Hi, my brake calipers are like locking up or something so I need to get it replaced. The mechanic said might as well replace everything and I'm cheap so I am trying to go the cheap route even though these are my brakes and that can be between life and death. But all I'm wondering is if these from amazon would be the same as from a oriellys auto shop..

Amazon - 80.68
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZQ357YA/ref=crt_ewc_title_srh_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2J7XWWO69IXU3

And at oriellys the same three things would cost me - 117.97 (126.08 after taxes)

So, I guess ill only be saving like 38 dollars... but yeah is thier a huge difference between these two?

You do realize that none of those links include calipers, right?

Trust me on this, get the Expedition calipers / rotors / brake pads. I think they cost a couple bucks more, but these are a lot bigger than what's on the F-150's and stop incredibly good. They are a direct swap too. Get the calipers, brake pads, and rotors from a 1997-2003 Expedition (just tell them 1999 since that's the truck you have). If you want to get good stuff and do the research, get the ones with the steel pistons. I believe those came off the 2002-2003 Expedition but don't quote me on that.

This right here is the set up you want:
Steel piston calipers with brackets [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

For the calipers, you'll notice I specified with brackets. When I did this someone told me I had to get new brackets but I didn't so I don't know if that's because I had an early F-150 or what it was.

With your brake pads, you'll notice I chose the ones with shims. When doing pads you usually need shims. A lot of times mechanics will just have them for you, but I don't know what kind of mechanic you're going to lol. I also always get the semi-metallic ceramic pads because they are quiet and smooth. If you don't get those ones you always hear a grinding noise. It's not a screeching noise, but it sounds like a skateboard wheel on pavement.

For your rotors, you have a tricky year. Ford changed lug size from 12mm to 14mm in 1999. Take off one of your lug nuts and it should tell you what size it is. If it's 14x2 then you have the 14mm lugs, if it's different (don't remember the number) then it's a 12mm lug. The reason this matters is because the rotors are drilled for this size so you have to know the right size. If you put rotors for a 14mm lug on a 12mm lug, it will wobble and cause tons of issues. I also tend to not get cheap rotors because they tend to warp and then you need new rotors and pads again. If you use a warped rotor too long you'll destroy your calipers, and in some cases your master cylinder.

DO NOT take just a couple items from this list. You will need all of these as the ones I listed are for the bigger brakes (Expedition brake swap). Again, this is a straight bolt on, but they are bigger brakes so you need the rotors that fit the calipers and the pads that fit the rotor (and caliper).

If I had to choose from the ones you listed, I'd get the O'rielly parts. They have the semi-metallic ceramic pads, but that's the only difference I see.
