Hello there,

I have been asking what capture cards are compatible with mac and I have been told elgato, dazzle and roxio. There are probably more but I have see that roxio seem to be preferred over Dazzle, and I am not within the price range of a Elgato.

People on forums just say don't get either a Roxio or Dazzle and just go straight for a HD PVR? I understand this but I am only going to be recording PS2 and Gamecube, so not HD gaming, and I do not plan too. So in that case is a HD PVR even applicable for me? So What I ask is can anybody actually recommend me a link to an actual Roxio capture for my iMac since mac is my computer so I can record PS2 and Gamecube for my new gaming channel. Or even a capture card that is a different make but you think it would be perfect for my preference, and if you need any more info on my circumstances please ask.

The purpose of this post is that I can literally be sent straight to a model of capture card that you guys are saying I should just go right, click, buy! I am looking for a model that isn't more than $60, because I have to start small anyway since I don't have much money, but do let me know if one slightly above that is a best option instead.

Thank you.

As a former Roxio user I highly recommend not to get it, You will always have to take an extra step to make your footage look better its more of a burden than anything

Is there any way you can wait slightly longer to afford the elgato? Stuff like this you get what you pay for

If that is what you think I should ultimately do then I think it's ok. It's just that I am at my final year of Uni with a set amount of money and no way or really working to produce more cash. But if getting elgato saves wasting money in the long run since you get what you pay for I'm sure I can sort something out.

With Elgato what model would you recommend for me?

Didn't see the part where you said you were only going to be recording PlayStation 2 and GameCube inputs. Elgato cards only use hdmi but I would think that a hub that converts your analog connections to digital hdmi would still work. Maybe consider reaching out to elgato through email to ask if something like that would work. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Yeah because I figured a good option regarding HD gaming wouldn't be the same as what I would need. But yeah that's no problem bro, I will contact them, thanks for the help.

Yeah I have decided that I will get a Elgato Game Capture HD. But guys I have a new question that I really just don't understand and it is about the setup for recording video game footage.

If I connect my RCA cables into my capture card, that then is connected via USB to the computer. Both the audio and visual footage is recorded on the computer, but if I setup a camera to pick up my face and voice, does the audio come out of the computer as I am recording playing the game? Doesn't the audio from the game coming out of the computer interfere with the recorded audio picked up by my camera? My friend says that's why most YouTubers use headphones to get around this, so you can hear the sound yourself and the viewers hear the RCA recorded audio. But then I don't understand what these guys do, James and Mike, and Angry Joe.

They just sit chilling with themselves being recorded by a camera and microphone, with the game recorded internally so we get the game visual and audio, so does that mean they play with no sound? Surely not? Because what we hear from their microphone is just them talking and button pressing.
