Looking for something that really works. I've been hitting the gym lately, and I was looking for a protein shake of some sort that is good to drink before, during or after working out that helps muscle growth

I normally don't use protein shakes because the amount of protein in each serving is extremely low compared to real food. You're honestly better off eating proper food like chicken, fish and eggs.

However, if you're looking to just pack on size, mass gainer as C4 suggested is pretty good. They normally have a ton of carbs which will help with gaining size and keeping your energy levels up.

Make sure to check the amount of sugar on the back though, some of them literally use a ton of sugar to try and increase the calories per serving.

Also be sure to drink plenty of water if your protein shake or mass gainer contains creatine. It can be pretty harmful to the kidneys if you don't keep hydrated.

Protein shakes are a load of ass. Eat real food because your body can only process about 14-16 grams of protein per 4 hours and the rest gets filtered through your kidneys so don't waste your money.

I have been in the bodybuilding scene for 2 years, I started when I was 16 and now I am 18. I have tried many different supplements and have found some work better than others. During my most intense training time I had gone from 210 to 240 in about 8 months. I had mainly bulked and spent little time on cutting. I used Arnold pump for a mass gainer, beyond yourself protein isolate, Creatine, muscle tech amino build, and casein protein. When I used all of these in conjunction as well as ate 6 smaller meals a day it gave wicked results. If you just want a protein product I would suggest an isolate, its the purest protein source you can get but it will be more expensive. You can always go the cheaper route and get whey, keep in mind that whey contains fats and carbohydrates. I would suggest taking amino build before a workout or during cardio, and then taking whey or an isolate post workout. I would not suggest a pre workout mix seeing as it is rather harmful to your body. You could also take a mass gainer about 60 minutes before your workout, that works to.

I really hope your being sarcastic with that reply

The fact your turning to a shake for "growth" shows your diet either isn't even close to good enough, or your not training hard enough, only way your going to get muscle growth, is with heavy weight but slow controlled movement to tare as much muscle fibers as possible. Then to replenish your glycogen stores have something full of good carbs afterwards to fill the muscles then some actual real food chicken takes no more than 20/30 minutes to cook.

I can tell you right now if your dependent on shakes already in a attempt to see any type of growth you won't get very far in changing your body.

Shakes are simply a supplement, prime example for times to have a shake, late at night if you havent prepped a meal, if your going from the gym straight to work and didnt have time to make a meal, shakes are to help people with busy lifestyles just to help you get that little bit extra if you don't have the time.

If your going to just be dependent on shakes for size regardless of what I've just said, either make your own get a blender throw in blueberries/egg whites/ protein powder/oats/milk/banana/coconut oil that is basically same shake I after post gym, full of good carbs, protein and fat.

Or just google a mass gainer and just purchase one with the most calories per scoop.

Whey is a mass gainer, I'm just helping this guy out, meals do help yes, but meals as well as shakes go for the highest protein and best results. But at the end of the day protein did very little, it is your dedication and hard work that will make for the best results.
