I own a 55 Gallon tank and I'd love to get two lizards. So, they would have to be small.

What I'm wondering tho is their a lizard that is small and likes to play in water?

My Ideal setup would be a sand substrate with a "pond" and other stuff but thats like the landscape.. I dont know if lizards even like the sand.

I know nothing on lizards haha. If they cant have sand but like to swim that should be okay I'll just have to get a different substrate.

Well i love all types of animals especially reptiles

I think what you are looking for is salamanders they love to live on land and water they are amphibians tho they can live on sand

but they are like a cross between frogs and lizards

another great choice is Newts they are also amphibians they are semiaquatic so they like land and water I would use coconut fiber as the substrate for them tho sand will be fine for them as well tho

there really isn't any lizards that like both water and land that are for beginners but salamanders and Newts are the next best thing

but if you are dead set on getting lizards I would get leopard geckos they are wonderful pets to own I would not put a "pond" in the tank tho they don't like to swim in water they can be on sand but make sure they don't dehydrate

i would do some research yourself but feel free to PM me if you have any questions

This is a pretty bad video but is this an "ideal" setup? Not sure why I want sand.. but yeah.

Also, where does one even buy a salamander or newts? My local pet stores (Petsmart, Petco) don't seem to carry them.

EDIT: Alot of online stores are sold out haha. It wont be awhile till I buy one but yeah seems like a hard thing to buy. Also shipping a lizard seems like an awful thing.

Not sure where the video is?

But ya that set up should be just fine for newts just make sure you monitor the humidity and temperature not sure what the exact humidity and temperature they like

you can actually order newts online mainly only in the USA tho

Ya it should be ok i would probably have fairly deep water

But some species are more aquatic than others so i would pick a species that you think is cool and do research on it
