The help I am needing might be a little more then advice from a forum. But, I have a problem with playing video games.

I take an online college class as well as one in class. The one in class I'm Acing. While on the online one I have a 57% or F. The reason for this is when I get home and need to work on that class I play video games instead.

I have a gym membership, I'm skinny but I was actually gaining weight at the time of going. In a six week stretch where I actually went every day and was eating alot of food, I gained 10 Ibs. (Like .7lbs for people who use that scale) But, usually when I get home after a 8-10 hour work day at the factory I work at, I don't really wanna go workout. Then I start playing Video Games.

I also am in a 3 year relationship. Part of my "Chores" is to do the dishes. I don't do the dishes for weeks at a time... I know sounds gross and it is. Right now our silverware has been in the sink soaking in water for about 7 days.......... But, when I think about doing them I just don't. I play Video Games.

So, basically I am asking if anyone has had a time in their life where they slacked off TOO MUCH and some how got control. I have an addiction and I'd like for it to stop. It's not as easy as just saying one day " Oh no video games let's be successful ". It's 5 AM right now I leave for work in 20 Minutes so that's why I'm writing about this instead of doing any of it haha..

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

I wouldnt say I was addicted to video games but I definitely played way too much when I was in high school, like way too much to the point of where I almost didnt graduate. When I wasnt working or going to school I was playing video games and you can tell just by looking at me like it really shows (im still beautiful AF tho).

As I said never was "addicted" but just being lazy yeah ive been there for sure. Instead of breaking your shit ^ how about just selling it if its that extreme. A better solution might be having your partner hide your gaming stuff within the house. Idk how much you tell your partner but really just open up to her and tell her you have a problem if you havent. Im sure shes loving enough to help you especially if her helping you can lead to a cleaner home ;) Going to the gym is a great way of kicking habits as going to the gym can become your new hobby and even if you dont like working out or the gym its still a great thing to do in the mean time. Back to the relationship thing, having a partner is great! How about scheduling workout sesh's between the two of you?

If none of that helps I know it may seem a bit extreme but you can always seek professional guidance, plenty of people are willing to help with any kind of addiction. I think that just talking about it with someone and creating a plan to limit yourself will be the best option though. I wish you the best of luck man.

We live together haha so she sees it. But she watched Netflix at the time I play. And I tell her I don't like to just sit their watching Netflix so I play games while she watches her shows. So we don't do much together like activity wise. But the gaming is done on my PC so I can't sell it due to my homework. (And I don't think I'll get nearly as much as I spent building it haha )

I have to go to work now. When I get home tonight is a school night where I have to go to the actual class. Imma try to clean in the time between work and school so we will see how that goes.

Thanks for the posts!
