Nice thread man! I'm 19 and plan on competing in both bodybuilding and physique by 21. Currently can hit BW Shoulder Press, 1.5xBW Bench 2xBWSquat, and 2.5X BW deadlifts at 182.

Good luck, that's going to be a dangerous road though

You can't build muscle without fat and the amount of muscle/fat you gain depends mostly on your diet.

As it says in the thread, go for high reps if you want to build muscle

I personally like when trying to get bigger and leaner is use a 8-12 rep range.

No matter how you train how many reps you do only way to gain "lean muscle" is to have a strict diet there is no such thing as lean muscle you all you can try do is gain as little fat as possible while gaining muscle but as I said you will only make small to little gains this way.

In order to gain real size and mass and thickness in the muscle you want to forget about keeping abbs thats what the cuttle cycle is for to get abbs after packing on some serious size.

If your a athlete or compete in some type of sports small lean gains are what's best for you if you want to be a bodybuilder you have to drop the ego or mindset of having abbs year round matters you won't get far with that mindset.

Only possible way to make good large gains while keep bodyfat gains to a min is through steroids which I advise against. It's impossible to gain kg's of muscle while gain 1-4% bodyfat at the same time unless your new to lifting, on steroids or have incredible genetics.

That's some pretty decent lifts, but if you're serious you want to forget about how much you're lifting and concentrate on really tearing down the muscle fibers and contracting and squeezing while letting it out with a slow stretch.

If you watch how professional bodybuilders train off camera its with light/average weights because strength doesn't matter they have all the videos of them lifting the heavy weights just for show and to promote products etc while on steroid cycles which already is going to increase there strength.

To be completely honest if you serious about competing then you should stick to physique shows/ amateur bodybuilding shows as high up you go its for sure you'll get blown out the water simply as 90% of guys are all on steroids and 100% of the winners are on steroids and just clame to be natural so it doesn't conflict with all their sponsorships deals and so it tricks consumers into buying the supplements thinking you'll look like them from taking their protein when simply you wont because behind it all is steroids.

Good luck to you and all the best on you're journey but stick to physique competing and amateur as they will have less steroid users in them, unless you're willing to take steroids and play up in the higher leagues.

Yeah I know about the non natural lifters out there. I have a extensive knowledge on steroids because I had coworkers who used them and explained the different times to me. I meant to put bodybuilding and powerlifting instead of physique because physique imo is a part of bodybuilding. Why can't we all be like "Natty" Miko O'Hearn haha
