Hey guys!
So this is my first time in this forum and I thought I would come in here for some suggestions. I have a couple friends that watch anime(I know that is a very loose/broad word) that really enjoy it and I have been told that I should watch it, but I don't know where to even start because there is so much of it out there!! So I was wondering if someone could recommend a series that I should start off with that could get me into and that could show me what its all about!
The only thing that I require is the show be in english. I don't know if all of them are in english or if none of them are in english. I really know nothing about anime but I want to change that!
So if anyone could recommend some shows that they enjoyed for me that would be great! I will choose the most popular show that is mentioned on this topic!

I would recommend not watching only English Dubbed shows as some of the dubs take the piss out of the show. I feel like the shows are 10 times better with original voice acting.
Also anime isn't really a broad term lol It's just Japanese Animation.
I will recommend you my Top 10 shows, and I have currently finished 334 shows in total.

Absolute Duo - Action, Ecchi, Harem, Romance, School, Supernatural
Campione! - Comedy, Ecchi, Fantasy, Harem, Magic, Romance
Guilty Crown - Action, Drama, Sci-Fi, Super Power
Freezing - Action, Drama, Ecchi, Harem, Martial Arts, Romance, Sci-Fi, Seinen
Gosick - Drama, Historical, Mystery, Romance
Spice and Wolf - Adventure, Fantasy, Historical, Romance
I'd recommend you start off with Spice and Wolf as it is pretty good and not an "ecchi" show as you may not like excessive nudity lol. Then if you liked both seasons of Spice and Wolf you should watch Gosick. Then Guilty Crown, Campione!, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia, and then the rest of the shows are "ecchi" and contain a bunch of nudity so if that's what you wanna try out go for those shows.

Thank you! It looks like you put a bunch of time into this and I really appreciate it! I don't understand half the words but thats okay right! I will watch the non english ones then if its better without the english!

Death Note, Attack on Titan, and Tokyo Ghoul. All of those are in English, I'm pretty sure. They're also very, very great animes. Hope this helped!

Sword Art Online Season 1 was amazing probably the best anime I've watched. Season 2 was meh.
I've watched others like Fairytale an stuff but none seem to be as good as SAO and it hurts.

Please for the love of all that's animu and catgirls, expand your horizon into what anime has to offer. If SAO is your favorite then you're clearly missing out on a lot of great stuff. SAO was meh in general. 1st half was okay but way to rushed. They even had filler in a 25 episode series that was broken up into two separate arcs. Oh and it's Fairy Tail ;)
As for OP: I suggest you check out the sticky up top. It has a list of anime newcomers will enjoy. All of them are dubbed. It hasn't been updated in while but the list still stands.
