I have had 5 phones in the past 2 years all of which I have rooted anywhere from a motorolla phone to my precious s3 with Cyanogenmod. I am stuck now. I am on my 3rd S4 mini (plz don't ask long stories) and I had my previous one rooted but a few months ago there was a massive update and now no root for me. I have read every single XDA post there is and still no answer. Before you say "Oh, have you tried TowelRoot"? Think to yourself... Would this kid with no life who has rooted 4/5 phones in 2 years really forget to try TR? In case you still have doubt the answer is a yes to trying TR... If anyone does have theirs rooted on the newest software update (too lazy to check what it is) please tell me.

This doesn't give enough information, what is your build number and what variant of the s4 do you have? and do you want to run lollipop or marshmallow? either one what version do you want? you can just search for your specific device and get the stock firmware after you root your phone.

verizon lollipop Im not trying to put custom firmware cuz I did it on my s3 and then I tried on another s4 and f*cked it up...

Hmmm I will try chainfire cant remember if I have before but odin wont connect... troubleshhot and everything

Odin wont work or are your drivers not installed correctly? [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
you might need odin to flash a stock firmware just encase something goes wrong when rooting with cf

Nah my drivers are fine... I have checked multiple time. something with my phone is off tho cuz I will plug it in to transfer music and cant do that either... its just wierd
