Okay so basically I only have a standard PC and I have been told it's possible to play DayZ on average settings but have no idea how to start a game is there a way I can host a game to run around and see if my PC can handle this game!?

Yes I got all the arma games cheap online through steam I am planning to buy a PC but want to know if it's possible to play on the standard PC I use

Alright, as far as I'm aware there isn't a single player option. In the past I did somehow manage to get single player to run, but can't find out how.
The problem with Arma is how shitty it's optimized, honestly it's terrible. Plus with all the custom stuff servers run, it can be hard to get good FPS. So take that into consideration.
You could download a DayZ launcher, download DayZ mod and hop into a server to see if you computer can handle it. It's got a few steps to it, but if you need any help just send me a PM and I'll help you out.
The launcher I use is DayZLauncher.
