Seeing as how this is primarily a British forum with lots of soccer fans I'm going to start total war but here it goes...
You want to know what really grinds my gears? When a fellow American citizen refers to the game of soccer as "football". Citizens of the United States of America, I am calling for a change in habits that have tainted our patriotic reputation. Let's get one thing straight -- Football is played with pads you damn disgrace, Uncle Sam would be disappointed. No disrespect towards soccer or anything but if you have been a lifelong citizen under the white stars and red bars you deserve to have your citizenship revoked for such atrocities as disrespecting our national sport. God Damn commies.

we call it football siomply because you kick the ball with your foot. with me so far?
we call what you call american football rugby since you use your hands. logical
you guys call it american football whenever i hear that i refer to it as big men playing hand ball
lol im sorry but the entire of uk will agree football sounds much better and works much better than soccer

So because I like "soccer" and I am a citizen of the United States of America, I cannot call it "football"? How in the world is calling soccer "football" a disrespect to American football? Most countries around the world refer to soccer as "football" and as an American citizen also refer to it as "football" half of the time. If I am talking to friends who get confused I would just tell them European football or American football depending on the conversation. There are so many worse atrocities in the US and you are complaining about something as little as this. -_-
