While I was driving to work this morning, I noticed the gentleman next to me was wearing ear buds and seemed to really enjoy whatever song was playing. I immediately thought to myself how dangerous it was to wear ear buds because he would be unable to hear what is going on around him which could not only be dangerous for himself but the drivers around him. As I pull off, he tries to turn into my lane very hastily, almost side skirting my vehicle. After a quick honk, I realized he couldn't hear me. To avoid getting hit, I had to navigate through traffic and almost got hit by another vehicle just because I was trying to avoid getting hit by this guy. Once he forced me out of my lane, unknowingly, he proceeded to drive, having absolutely no idea he had almost caused a major collision.
So now since you've heard my story, I have one question.
Is it worth it? Even if his radio was broken and he just wanted to listen to music, is it honetly worth putting others at risk?
Long story short:
This random driver managed to almost cause a collision because he couldn't hear me honking and I can't help think this could have all been easily avoided if he hadn't been wearing ear buds.

I knew a girl who in high school, she is deaf. She now drives so I meaaaaan.. Although I do agree and if im correct which I think I am, driving with them in is.. Illegal. Atleast where I live.
Its not worth it, not only do you put yourself at risk, but more importantly everyone else aswell

It's not worth it, if anything buy an Aux cord and bump some fire instead.

The driver you are complaining about was obviously an idiot of a man with no common sense whatsoever. So I can see why you are ranting about it and can agree with you in that sense.
I disagree that it's very dangerous.. because
1. Some deaf people are allowed to drive
2. Some of the more experienced 'better drivers' like to blast some music whilst driving and guess what, they have NO claims and cheap insurance because they don't cause accidents.
Just my thoughts

You say it's dangerous with ear buds in, however then it is only the one person with loud music, however all the chavs who blast music through speakers can cause a distraction to other drivers...

It isn't just people who have earbuds in listening to music, it's the drivers who use the phone while driving.
They pay no attention to the road in front of them and also to other road users.
I've came across a good few people this week while stopped at lights constantly checking their phone and/or texting, phoning and even browsing Facebook. I'm sure these people don't realise that using your mobile phones while operating a motor vehicle is illegal.
As a motorcyclist, I can't do any of these as my phone is always in my bag. So the only way of checking is by taking off my bag and getting my phone from there.

Honestly this is why I feel like not driving in the near future. Kids now a days do their own thing, and don't think of the consequences that come with it. One day we are constantly going to have to fight for our lives on the road because one person believes that what's on his phone is more important than the lives of other motorists.

It's kind of an a-hole move but if I see people driving with their phones up to their ears or I see them looking down at their phones, I use the PA system in my truck and tell them to get off. Cops have a laugh about it.

does he not have a clue what a radio is for in a car lol you know like most cars have one safer for every one but its not a issue if its not to loud or got one in
