Monitors, easily. What specific PSU do you have? We can't know if it needs an upgrade, unless we know make and model.

It's a crappy 500watt PSU, from a company like Aexir or something. Monitors, i was thinking that, but they're so expensive.

Oh lordy those monitors. Upgrade ASAP. IMO
And the PSU <

Those monitors oh man. I haven't used that resolution since like 2004 lol.

PSU should be upgraded too 500W is pretty low for what you have running.

Problem i run into is the price. I could ditch the two and go for another one of these Dells or two (got the dell for like 100 bucks at microcenter) or (what i really want) to go above 1920x1080, but that's probably outta my price range.

1920x1200 is in your range, maybe is a cheap 1440p depending on how much you get back.

I recommend upgrading your PSU first, then worry about the monitors.

Gotcha. Modular, maybe 750? I want to SLI the 970's when i start picking up more hours at work this summer, so what can i ensure will work? Things only got a 145watt TDP to begin with. Don't NEED a modular, but it would surely simplify things.

PSU issue is the quality, not the wattage. If you want to SLI, you'll want a 750W PSU. You could grab a nice 750W G2 unit. If your current 1080p panel is alright, grab another one with the spare money and dump that old shit, then save for a 3rd 1080p panel.
