I doubt most people know this, so I wanted to share it with you guys.
It takes exactly 18 heavy hits with the sword to kill Crota
This means Crota has about the same health as he would on the lower difficulty at about 260,000.
Here's a video of my group killing him on Wednesday.
I used my super twice with the sword and managed 6 hits on Crota for the final down.
