Any non-reference cooler 970 will be fine. The Twi Frozr cooler on the 770's was fantastic and I'm assuming the TF V on the 970 will be even better. Gigabyte's Windforce cooler is supposed to be great as well.

Yeah, my twin frozrs on my 270 are fantastic. The ' Vs are semi passive, but can I change speeds as well, or isit just ccontrolled on it's own?

The fans turn on when the card reaches 63 degree's but I'm sure you can manually set a custom fan curve

How future proof will a 970 be? I mean, soon 2gb will not be enough, how many years could I get?

The 970 has 4GB of VRAM and nothing is future proof in this world.

Alrighty, the 970 is within my price range as well. What do you guys think I should upgrade first? I think I'm going to upgrade my psu first as i will need the 6+2 slot for the gpu anyway.

Another question: How much does ram speed make a difference?

Don't bother with high speed memory unless you can get it for a decent price..

Get what every you want first doesn't matter.

What is your current PSU make & model

Also, what RAM do you have.

In terms of speeds, not much difference between them TBH. you can get much higher speeds for much less now so depending on your current RAM, you might just have to add on to what you have or get a whole new 16GB set

Also, does your current RAM fit under your cooler?

It's a 500watt, dual rail. Lemme take a picture and check. its horrendous and I just want to get rid of it.

Here it is. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I have 8gb of corsair vengeance, in the last slot. The last slot (furthest away from my processor) is the only one which isn't obstructed by my cooler.
