After many months of gaining knowledge i think i am ready to build a PC. The problem is i have no idea on what parts to put in it. I would like to use it for gaming and college work i have about 450-500 pounds to spend on it. I play games like wow and Garry's mod Cs and want a PC that could play them in higher end settings with a good fps but will my budget allow me to do so can you help me out.

This is cheaper and from the same shop (Scan.co.uk). Motherboard is a tad better too.

Good build, however stretching the processor to a 6320/8350 will REALLY HELP - defiantly worth the extra money if you can afford it.

You're looking at 20 extra for a 8320, or 40 extra for a 8350.

He'd only benefit if he used the two extra cores and don't even think of the 8350 on that budget. Its just a higher clocked 8320.

Do you want the computer to be good for a year or 3 years?

The 8320 is EASILY worth 20, and you will notice a in game FPS increase of 10% ish.

I have a 7870 (270x) and upgrading got me this.

When just using the PC for work and gaming the 6300 with a better GPU will be better than a 8320 with a worse GPU.

Could have worded that better, but I'm sure you get the point; the 6300 will be better at his price range.

It's 20, you can't upgrade the GPU for 20 - it does increase game stability and FPS.

Anyway, any GPU on the 6300 would start to be a bottleneck.

If you want a computer for three years you dont buy AM3+ at all. You'd buy something like a X79 LGA2011 socket or whichever chipset supersedes it, as X79 has been around for years now.

On a budget though, the motherboard/processor combo isnt that much and OP can change it out whenever he wants to upgrade.

AM3+ will easily last for another 3 years, just as 1156 is expected to. X79 chipset motherboards/2011 processors are too expensive for anyone not wanting a mediocre workstation or an enthsiast.

After working with e-bridge type systems and 2011 socket processors, they also lack support from a lot of software too - they're expensive and annoying.

Considering the 8320 features newer instructions, better overclocking capability (arguable) and is only 20 more, it's a great upgrade.
