I have a team in a 5-2-2-1 formation, meaning there is 2 midfielders (CMs) and both of them are rated 84. For some bizarre reason when I go to play a game my ratings are; ATT - 86, MID - 80, DEF - 83.

Is there any reason for this? I have tried swapping the two players around but it has made no changes.

The bench, im certain the bench affects it, not the reserves
