Welcome

So,im seeing no sticky on homebrew so that could be leading people in the wrong direction possibly messing up there jailbroken ps3.
First to run homebrew *YOU MUST* have a jailbroken ps3!


FAQ

What is Homebrew?
Homebrew is any game or application written for a platform that does not typically allow user-created programs to run.

What are the benefits of Homebrew?
Homebrew will allow you to make the most of your PS3 hardware by using it for purposes which it was never originally used for.

Can I permanently erase Homebrew?
Yes.




Jailbreaking your PS3 to install Homebrew

To run homebrew you must have a jailbroken ps3!!!Some homebrew only works on a certain firmware.

Installing Homebrew

This is more homebrew help.Click on link and follow instructions.

Alot of homebrew will come in a single file in .pkg format. To install this do the following-
Copy the .pkg to the root of your USB stick.
Insert the USB stick into your PS3.
Go to "Install Package Files" under the games tab.
Select the package you wish to install.
Your homebrew app or game will now appear under the games tab.


Recommended Homebrew to Install

For file managers
Black box/Filezilla->it will allow you to transfer files between your PC and PS3
Comgenies Awesome File Manager->it will allow you to manage files and folders on your PS3. It also can access files on an external drive attached to your PS3.

multiMAN->is currently the best backup manager available. It is stable, has many additional features,file management,automatic cover download) and has some awesome themes available.


Emulators for PS3
Emulator bascially "emulate" an older game on your cfw ps3!YOU MUST BE ON 3.55 FOR EMULATORS TO WORK!

SNES9x PS3 is an SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) emulator ported from SNES9x for PCs. With it you can play SNES games on your PS3.

Not always true. It depends on what the homebrew is for. Like i created a web browser that streams faster than the normal ps3 one, its under the network tab. Then there is showtime homebrew to watch and .xxx format movie which is located under the video tab
