when i scan for the internet connection, it pops up my Wifi and appears gray and wont let me select it. does anyone know what to do? I also have a 3 and that connected instantly.

Your problem is that you have a PSP...

it might be because your router is blocking your PSP from connecting. Try getting rid of the connection your currently on(disabling it). Then try connecting to what you originally planned to do.
