What has rap turned into?



Anybody that is actually a blood or crip knows that the ONLY reason that they are in the gang is for survival on the streets and if they had the money that those famous rappers had then they would never associate themselves with gangs. They WANT out of the streets, they WANT to grow up and be successful but due to their current situation are unable to. Rappers such as Lil Wayne, are influencing kids with gang activity, but what the kids don't realize is Lil Wayne is in a 3.5 Million Dollar home repping "the streets" while that kid is actually on the streets fighting each day for survival. The generation of rap when Tupac, and Biggie, ran the rap game was such a more real generation. Tupac didn't always rap about b!tches, Money, and h0es, same with Biggie. They raped REAL life, actual problems. They made a difference in their community. The rappers in this generation are doing the exact opposite, they are hurting the community. Imagine the possibilites if somebody with as much influence as Lil Wayne was rapping about making a difference. Don't get me wrong, I love rap and always will but the rap game as we know it, is absolutely FAKE. Most mainstream rappers actually don't even write their own raps yet most of you think they are as real as it gets. Originality is dead and sadly everyone is society is out for themselves. It's sad because while Lil Wayne is in his million dollar home kids are out dying as a piru blood actually in the streets, probably assuming Waka Flocka, or Lil Wayne is doing the same. Its honestly pathetic if you think about it.



Disclaimer: I am not saying don't listen to their music in any way. I personally do enjoy their music and listen to it probably as much as any of you do. They do have talent and I am in no way trying to deny that. I am just trying to show the realization of the current rap situation. Most teenagers never listened to Tupac or Biggie to know what rap was built off of. If you see what rap used to be compared to what it is now, you would be absolutely disgusted.




Before replying with a generic answer defending your favorite rapper please take the time to actually read this entire post and take it into consideration and if you still disagree then at least you respectfully do.

I agree. But if you come out of the streets, and in to the fame, rappers nowadays will soak up that fame, and rap about the fame, not about their past life, what they went through. They'll just use the fame and rap about it, which is considerably easy, when you think about the likes of Lil Wayne. In the past, yeah, rappers actually rapped about what they went/are going through, and wrote their own lyrics, and it had a feel to it. Not the "auto-tunin', zero emotion" rap that's mainstream today. The annoying thing is the good rap in the past was the mainstream rap, now the mainstream rap is the bad rap, and what people think about rap. Bad to represent rap in that way.
