These tutorials are for beginners and I mean beginners only!
These tutorials were written by me and the videos were recorded by me.
I will get into more in-depth tutorials later once i finish covering the basics.

These tutorials are for people that have no prior knowledge of photoshopCS5
I uploaded a video for each tutorial to give you better understanding of what your doing.

#1.Downloading Photoshop
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Downloading Photoshop is very simple and easy to do.
Photoshop costs $199.00 US Dollars.
You can download photoshop from:http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop
You will need to buy a serial code to enter it into the download above.
You may also use the 30 day trial and when it runs out re-download it...

#2.Opening Photoshop
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Opening Photoshop is easy
You will be able to find it in the Program files if your on a Windows and on Macintosh it should be in the Applications folder.
You can move Photoshop to anywhere you want, it does not have to stay where it was placed.
To open just click on the Photoshop logo and it will start loading.
It will open Photoshop and it will come up with a window that says start your trial or insert serial code.
If you didn't buy it click start trial and right as you do that your 30 days will start.
The trial has all the same features that the bought version has.

#3.Creating a new file
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
If you want to start putting photoshop to use you are going to need to make a file you can work off of.
Once Photoshop opens your screen should be grey with your tools and tab on the edges.
Go up to were it says File, and click on it.
Then press the "New" tab.
It will open a new window and you will be able to name your file and select the size.
Most people use Pixels when working with graphics but if you choose to do another be my guest.
select the resolution, i usually leave that the way it is.
And then you can select what your background color is or you can make it transparent.
If you select transparent it will look like a white and grey checkerboard.
Then you can select the ok button and it will create your new file and you can start your artwork.

#4.Saving your files
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Saving your files is the most important thing in Photoshop.
To save your files you will need to go to the top bar where all your tabs are located.
Then move down and select "Save as"
It will open a window on your screen.
You can select where you want to save the file and then name it what you want.
Then you may select the file type such as .PNG, .JPG, .PSD, Etc...
If you want to edit your file later on you will need to save it as a .PSD because all the layers will not merge and you will be able to change them when you open it later.
If you want to share the image or view it on your computer you will want to save it as a .PNG or .JPG, I'm almost positive that there are other types you could save it a but these are the most popular and they work for most programs.

#5.Image Pixelation
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You never want your image to be pixelated because people wi think you don't have a clue of what your doing.
Lets say you make a new file and the size is 150 x 150 and you Place some new text.
Then you make another new file and set the size to 1500 x 1500 and you place the same exact text as above.
If you save them both as .PNG's and open them with Quicktime Viewer or Preview. You will see that the one with the higher resolution looks very sharp and smooth around the edges of the text. When you zoom in it takes a lot longer for it to get pixelated.
On the other hand the one with the lower resolution will only take one zoom to see pixelation or maybe you don't even have to zoom in to see it.
If you don't understand what I'm talking about go into photoshop and open an image and scroll all the way in until you can't no more. You will see that your image is made up of thousands maybe millions of these little boxes. Each box is a different color and you may be able to see that it sort of gets lighter when it goes toward a different color and then gets darker again.
It is very easy to understand, but you need to watch the resolution on google images because a lot of them are small and will mess up your photo.

#6.Applying Text
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Applying text is pretty straight forward and like always easy to do.
On the left side of Photoshop you will see many different looking icons. We will not be going through all of them today but i will in the more advanced tutorials.
For the text it will most likely be in the lower half of the tool bar.
It looks like a big black T and when you click on it, a small pop up will come and you will be able to select what the rotation. If you want the text to be horizontal you select horizontal and vertical you get vertical you get the idea.
Once you have the text you want go to your image and left click.
You will be able to type in your desired text.
If you look to the top of Photoshop right under the tabs you will see that you will be able to select your font and size of your text also your color. There is many other ways to select color but we will start with those later on during the medium tutorials also how to import your own fonts.

#7.Importing Images
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Importing images can be done many ways, but first we will start with the way I do it.
If you are importing from the internet read technique1 and if your importing from a file on your computer go down to technique2
Technique1:
Open up your internet browser and go find the image you want to import.
Right click the image and save the image to your desktop or where ever you want it to save to.
Open up the folder that has your image and drag it to your photoshop dock icon and it should pop up with photoshop.
You should still be holding down your file and drag it to your image.
Release and it will place itself on the image. Resize it and then double click the image to place it.
Technique2:
Just do the exact same thing you did with technique1 but leave out the internet part because you already have the file on our computer.

#8.Layers and Filters
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Layers are something you will need to have open if you want to make a complex piece or work such as backgrounds and forum signatures.
Layers will help you be organized with your work and will allow you to select something that maybe pilled down with other layers and filters.
This will also let you place layers over layers and merge layers.
The layers tab should be there automatically when you open photoshop but if not go to the "Windows" tab and open it and scroll down until you see layers.
Now on to the filters...
Filters are not the most common tool to use but can make some pretty nice effects.
The filters gallery can be opened from the "Filters" tab.
When you open the tab you will see many different options of filters and you can learn more about those just by trying them out and looking around.
the filters gallery has all the filters in it and you can select them as you please, but don't distort your image to the point where people don't know what they are looking at.
The filters tab also has a liquify tool that allows you to sort of push around your image but i mostly use it for fire effects and forum signature backgrounds.

#9.Hue and Saturation
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Hue and saturation is not a tool i use often but it is useful for changing colors easily on cars and on pretty much anything else.
You will need to go to the "Layer" tab and then scroll down to "New Adjustment layer" and then to "Hue and Saturation."
It will open up a window that has all these pretty colors on it.
I don't really know how to explain this but it is pretty simple to figure out.
You should be able to change the brightness and color and darkness of everything.

#10.Smudging
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Smudging is very simple and can create great effects for forum signatures and backgrounds.
To get to your smudging tools you will need to go to the emblem that looks like its a hand pointing Its right under paint bucket and gradient tool.
You will be able to pick what brush you want to do your smudging with, you can also set the strength of the brush to what ever percentage you want. Try not to set it to 100 because it is way to strong for most smudge techniques.
You are able to choose different brushes for your smudging likes.
You may also set your brush presets to however you want to get that clean rugged look you wanted.
The brush presets can be found under the "Window" tab.

#11. Making Clean 3d Text My way
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
There is a lot of ways of making 3D Text in Photoshop, but today i will teach you my way.
My way Looks a lot clean and better than the default way that most people teach you.
First you are going to need to make your text and then duplicate it CTL+J
Make the top layer the color you want such as red, blue, green, purple, etc...
And the bottom layer the layer you want the side of the 3d text to be(I prefer black or grey)
And then you are going to click on the bottom layer and make sure you are on the move tool selected.
With this done you are going to press up and to the left on your arrow keys.
Then duplicate the moved text and repeat the process.

#12.Rectangle Selection Tool
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The rectangle selection tool is mostly used for box images or image that have certain areas that it can go over without cutting into an other part of an image that we don't want to happen.
The Rectangle selection tool is pretty much a nock off of the magic wand.
The magic wand can't always get every thing that you want it to but the rectangle tool is helpful
The Rectangle tool can be used for selecting and moving items.
It can be used for hovering over certain areas and deleting items.
It can be used to select a certain area and then fill it with a gradient or a color.
You can use it for many other things that you will figure out on your own also.
The Rectangle Selection tool can be found on the top of your tools bar, it is directly under the move tool.
[Sorry No Video at the moment I will get one up tonight though]

#13.Rulers
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The ruler tab can be found in the "View" tab on the top bar.
Or you can press CTR+R
Rulers are used for getting exact points when making Logos or backgrounds or anything really.
Rulers are easy to use you just have to click on the bar that has all the lines and numbers on the top or left and then drag it down or across and then place it where you want.
Rulers also come in handy when adding gradient brush effects, but we won't be getting into that until the Advanced tutorials.
[Sorry no video at the Moment I will get one up tonight]

I will be uploading some of my more advanced tutorials later but for now this is what i got
