well if its the green stuff its slime, and the grey/ black is the bedrock, meaning you cant dig any deeper, if ur looking for diamonds best area is about 12/ 13

Yeah these are slimes. They are found in specific chunks on your minecraft world. If you are able to find the exact chunk, then you will have alot of slimes. They are quite rare so if you find one you will have to go to the same place to find more.
