If your having trouble with plug-in's please scroll down further to DL them and read the ENTIRE post before you even attempt this

Remember the first part of this tutorial was made for the Beta, read on further for modding the full game

You Need a Jtag for this.

Download Ascension

Ascension is a tool based off the Halo 3 tool Alteration, for use with Halo Reach Beta/Game, reusing much of the source code, but developing new ideas slowly into a new framework. Opening it up you'll find alot of the same ideas, just incorperated differently.

The program will can autoupdate itself, thus users will not fall behind.

I'm aware of the bug that poking over and over, or too many connections to the Xbox will eventually crash the program. I'll be fixing that soon, so no worries.

This time around I'll do less talking, and just more of a release, so here's the application for download.. Have fun playing around with it, if questions are asked here I'll try to answer them as much as I can.

Unsigned and Force-Load XEXs

Using these XEXs you just load the XEX corresponding with which map you'd like to play. Force loaded maps are local and not online or splitscreen, and you can do this after the beta expires, it's purpose is to allow modding and research to be tested. ff10_prototype.map is a firefight map, so you can choose your loadout. However AI will not spawn when force loaded. All other maps will be loaded as Multiplayer, Slayer maps.

To load the map, just be signed into an account, (offline) and launch the XEX, an after the intro videos, the game will appear to freeze but that's just the map loading. Once the map loads, you just need to wait to spawn and you're good. If you start up the XEX without being signed in, you will be asked to use a gamertag or a temporary profile. Using a temporary profile will allow you to continue to the mainmenu. Signing in will launch the map.

Note: A patching program was not released as it was in the past because F&F beta and the ODST beta are slightly different. This is also why the DLLs were included, because without them, the F&F beta would have glitchy sounds. This was based off of the ODST Reach Beta XEX.
Enjoy.

Tutorial All Credit To Twisted from Reworked
__________________________________________________________________________________
This tutorial will teach you how to unlock the Halo: Reach beta on your JTAG'd Xbox 360. It will allow you to run around on all maps including two that haven't been released yet(one of which is a Firefight map) and will also make modifying those .map files possible.

Requirements:
A JTAG'd Xbox 360 or a development kit
Halo: Reach Beta(Available for download May 3rd)
Forceload XEXs
X360Gamehack
WxPirs
Auto Xbins to download XEXmenu or Xplorer360
Google is your friend!

Once you have all those files, you may start. You will need to use all of them and if you are missing one, then you can not complete this tutorial.

Downloading the Beta

1. Go here and sign into your account and download the beta if you haven't already. Then turn your Xbox on and allow the beta to download.
2. Once the beta is done downloading, either put your hardrive on your JTAG'd Xbox and boot into XEXmenu and FTP the 4D53885C folder to your computer. Or you can connect your hardrive to your computer and open Xplorer360. Then in Xplorer360 go to Partition 3>Content>00000000000>4D53885C>00080000>725EC55D552A4DEDDE69466A0BA490B2CB496EF74D and extract that file to somewhere on your computer.

Extracting the maps, default.xex, waves, etc.

1. Now open WxPirs.
2. In the top left hand corner, click file>open or click the folder with an arrow above it button.
3. Locate your where you saved your Halo 3 Beta to(aka the 725EC55D552A4DEDDE69466A0BA490B2CB496EF74D file). And open the file.
4. You should now be presented with bink, maps, and waves folders and a default.xex, WaveShell-Xbox.dll and WavesLibDLL.dll
5. Click file>extract all or click the repeating floppy disc icon in the top left hand corner.
6. Pick a folder to extract all of those files and folders to and wait until they are all done(it was will say
"done" next to every folder and file).

Downloading and signing the Forceload XEXs
(Credit to DeToX for the XEXs and Halo: Reach modding research)

1. Download the Forceload XEXs
2. Extract all contents of the halo_reach_beta_forceload.rar to a folder.
3. Run X360Gamehack, and point it to that folder.
4. Use the following settings and hit "Fix"
5. Delete the files with the .orig extension, they are no longer needed. (Optional)

Putting the Beta on your Hardrive and Playing it

1. Run FreestyleDash or XeXMenu, and access your xbox via FTP
2. Open or create Hdd1:GamesReach Beta
3. FTP the following files: reach-30_settlement.xex, reach-ff10_prototype.xex, reach-20_sword_slayer.xex, reach-70_boneyard.xex, reach-mainmenu.xex, WaveShell-Xbox.dll, WavesLibDLL.dll, and waves folder that you got from the halo_reach_beta_forceload.rar. Make sure that you put EVERY file that came in the halo_reach_beta_forceload.rar folder.
4. Once those files are on your hard drive, go to the folder that contains all the files and folders that you extracted using WxPirs. Take the "maps" and "bink" folders and all of their contents and put those in your Halo Reach Beta folder on your hard drive.

Alternative (Xplorer360):

1. Open Xplorer360 and navigate to your Partition 3 and make a new folder called "Games" if you don't already have that folder.
2. Inside that folder make a new folder called "Halo Reach Beta".
3. Inside of the Halo Reach Beta folder, put your reach-30_settlement.xex, reach-ff10_prototype.xex, reach-20_sword_slayer.xex, reach-70_boneyard.xex, reach-mainmenu.xex, WaveShell-Xbox.dll, WavesLibDLL.dll, and waves folder that you got from the halo_reach_beta_forceload.rar.

More Updated Tutorial thanks to cheez

This seems to be needed by a lot of people, this will show the basics of setting up RTH Reach.

- Things Needed -

RTH Halo Reach: can be found here www.thetechgame.com/Forums/viewt...49514.html
Halo Reach: obviously lol
JTAG: With DashLaunch v1.0
Ascension Plugins: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] for BIPD [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] for SDDT

1. Download the RTH Reach files, and put all three .XeX files(RTELauncher.XeX, RTELoader.XeX, Default.XeX) in the root of your Halo:Reach folder.

2. Next, you want to download the 2 Plugins above, and put them in the "Plugins" folder of Ascension. If it asks you to overwrite any files just click yes.

3. Next you will want to edit your Ascension settings. Run Ascension as Admin and click on settings at the top. You will then want to browser for the folder your maps are in, and enter your JTAGs IP address. You can get your JTAGs IP by looking in System Settings, or in XeXMenu. Your settings should look something like this...

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

4. After you have all the information entered, it's time to start Real Time Editing! In FreeStyle Dash or XeXMenu, browser to your Reach folder and select "RTELauncher.XeX" and it should load up Halo:Reach. If everything goes right, after the into starts playing you will get a message that says "Ready To Accept Connections". Press OK and then you should receive one more message that says "Listening", press OK again.

5. Once that is over, choose a map you would like to test RTH on, an easy way to test out RTH is in Forge. Go to Forge Mode and select Forge World, then hold in RB while you are in Editor Mode till you hit the Barrier at the top of the map.

6. Now you want to open the map you are playing on in Ascension, which would be "forge_halo.map" in this case. After you open it you will be brought to this screen...

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Go over to the right side and click the + sign next SDDT, and click on the EncryptedTAG under it...

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

7. Now click on Editor at the top, and select "Tag Editor", and you should see a screen like this...

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

8. Once you click Poke Changes, hold in RB again and you should see that you can now go higher! Don't go to far, or it will say "Return To Battle Field" and you will explode!

9. Now let's try something multiple EncryptedTAGs, like BIPD. Scroll through the right column till you find BIPD and click the + sign. Once you click the + sign, you will see that there are multiple things to choose from.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

10. This will be trial and error. Click on the first EncryptedTAG and scroll down till you find "Jump Velocity".

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Once you find it, change the Value to anything you want and click "Poke Changes". Try jumping on your JTAG, and if the Jump Height does not change move to the next EncryptedTAG and edit the Jump Velocity in that one. Keep choosing a new TAG till you find the one that effects you game.

There you have it! This is how to setup RTH Reach and edit basic Values. There are more Plugins and a TON more things to edit, but you will have to find those TAGs on your own.
