Not only that but a lot of out constitutional rights are up on the voting block. I 1639 passed here in Washington which makes it illegal for me to own most of the guns I own. Washington state has turned thousands of us law abiding citizens into criminals.

I can definitely see how it's confusing since you're from another country, I live here and it's kind of hard to explain and understand.

Clearly, we were not voting for president, that is something we do every 4 years. Something else we do every 4 years it's something called Midterm Elections, they are called midterm because they happen in November, about the middle of the presidents 4 year terms.

In the midterm elections, we vote on tons of different things that vary from state to state, and even the cities and counties of each state.

Most importantly, we use the midterms to vote for the members of the US Congress and the US senate, both are very important branches of government when it comes to making laws and investigating president trump.

States, not all of them, also vote for their Governor, they are in charge of the state itself, working on implementing state laws and watching over the states operations.

We also vote on all sorts of state and local laws, and these vary depending on where we are. Some of the stuff we voted on here in California are whether or not to keep daylight savings, how we should use tax money, and whether or not some taxes stay in place, along with a ton of other things. Laws like minimum wage in areas, cannabis legalization, etc are voted on.

All of these are very, very important to the democracy of the US government. We are taught in school that the US congress(made up by the House of Representatives and Senate) are just as powerful and important as the president. The reason you've been hearing about it so much it because people don't actually vote in the midterms as much as they do they presidential election.

If you have any more questions, I'd love to be able to try to answer them. I was just trying my best to explain the basics because one could go way more in to detail.

He meant bill/ballot I-1639 in the state of Washington. I've only seen some talk which I believe was to restrict semi-automatic rifles or something on that line -- not sure if there's more to the bill, didn't look too much on Reddit. He didn't mean in 1639 or anything like that lol

Yeah not the year, initiative 1639 lol.

Basically now I can't sell to an out of state person, I need to get a mental health evaluation, release my medical records to the state (violation of doctor patient confidentiality?), now you have to be 21 to buy an "assault rifle" which is anything semi automatic regardless of caliber (yes, a .22 that is semi automatic is an assault rifle). If someone breaks into my home, steals my gun and shoots someone, I am now under a felony charge of endangering the public because of improperly stored assault weapons. There is so much to this that is so bad. The whole thing is 30 pages long...
