I drive a 2016 Chevy Malibu, (you can see it on my IG @GuapGT) and they don't make coilovers for my car and bags are impractical where I live in the winter. I wanna lower the car so there's no fender gap and I'm thinking about cutting my springs. Are there any cons aside from minor bumpiness? Can it do damage to the car?

Summit racing has lowering spring for your car. But I don't see it hurting your car. Just be careful when your cutting your springs. Cut little by little because if you cut 2 in off the spring then you probably end up lowering the car 4in. So I don't see a problem just as long as you cut little by little until you get the ride height you want. Cut a half a coil off first and see where you at.

I had cut springs on my first car and I wouldn't do it again, the ride is unbelievably bad, granted if you CANT buy coilovers it's not the end of the world, have you tried seeing if another car has the same frame and suspension as you can pinch off another model ie springs, up to you. People say it's dangerous but my car rubbed on the arch going round corners and it was fine

I looked into some lowering springs and from what I've seen, they don't make as much of a difference as I'd like. I'm trying to completely close the fender gap and lowering springs only drop so far :/

if your going to slam the car and drive it daily at a stanced height then I would say bags are better as I know a few people with them BUT they are costly and you do need the space for the tank and pipping, it's really a self decided thing as I personally have quite a low car and I think it's fine without the need for air and coilovers but I still cant drive down some roads due to speed bumps. From what your saying here I would go with airride though

Coil overs make your car ride super hard, cutting springs make it so much worse. I highly advise not to do this. Won't do harm to your car much but the ride comfort won't be good.

mate I'm not you, if you can push to afford bags they'll never lose a mass amount of money on re-sell value, I wouldn't buy them 2nd hand but I know people who have and not had any issues, if you can afford them it's definitely the best option

Right after extensive trawling through googles forums I rang a mate of mine bearing in mind we're UK based and he said he's positive yours cars suspension match's the Vauxhall/Opel insignia and coilovers for that would fit but you need to ring and ask your dealership or aftermarket trader.. you might need this to..
