So guys, I fly home from university on the 15th and my birthday is today, so my mum knows I always wanted a tattoo and a part of a coming home/birthday gift, she has generously offered to pay for my first ever tattoo. This is just really for advice and what you guys think of my idea. I am wanting it about 15-20cm vertical down my ribs/side.

By the way, I am from Ireland and have learnt Gaelic partially through my life, however this is an ancient Irish language called 'Ogham' and the symbol stand for 'Clann' or strictly translated as 'Family'.

For me it means a lot, my family mean a lot to me, especially in recent years and the reason I want it on my ribs is due to future job prospects.

Thanks!

Looks great mate, would look awesome on your side for sure, and it means something alot to you, so yeah i like it alot.

Only just got my first tattoo few years ago, looking to get more next year.

Be sure to upload pictures of when you get it done, would be great to see how it turns out.

Great Tattoo Man! Family is important and if that means putting apart of them on your skin then so be it! Love it!

Thanks guys, only thing I'm worried about is that it's kind of a fine piece and I have been warned that overtime, tattoos swell, will that effect it much?

Tattoos are very subjective, I wouldn't personally get that just like you probably wouldn't get the things I have.
As long as you're about it that's all that matters.

Just know that ribs are a pretty painful spot to get tattooed.
Take good care of it afterwards also, one place told me aquaphor for 2 weeks then unscented lotion for 2 weeks, another place tried to give me "the only FDA approved tattoo cream" and it was absolute trash.

My completely unprofessional advice would be aquaphor and lotion, but ask the artist.

It wouldn't be my first choice but everyone has their own styles!

Hope we see the finished project!
