If I were to use a 750GB laptop hard drive to replace my current hard drive, would it come with the side effect of not being able to play original Xbox games on it due to it not being a hard drive branded by Microsoft?

You can play original Xbox games as long as you install the compatibility files on partition 2.

This hard drive would be going into a retail Xbox for the time being until I obtain the necessary equipment to RGH hack it. Would this not work on a retail?

Does this have to be used with an RGH like Rodent_Modz said? Or can it be used with a retail?

Most that will work on a retail is 500gb. But would have to be made and added the files for 500gb. Using hddbuilder been a long time since I have had to build one this way

Okay, then. That's fine because my retail is already 500GB.
