I was downloading the clothing and what not that you can add on to sims 4 earlier and when I'd got what I needed I started up the game and heard a random voice saying "my computer had been locked" before it cut off and noticed an extra tab on google chrome opened with something similar to this; [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (not exact one but I think it looked similar to it) and it came up with "Are you sure you want to leave this page" which I obviously clicked yes. My computer then slowly started to freeze before completely freezing for a good 4-5 mins.
I turned off the computer fully and restarted it to which it was a slow start but everything is working fine now and the scans I have run have found nothing so far, the question is, is there a virus like a keylogger etc on my computer now or was it just a random pop-up from the site I was downloading stuff?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

If nothing downloaded from in your browser download history, then a virus wasn't downloaded. It seems like one of those sites that just constantly open up new tabs, which while in Chrome is a resource hog that would be my guess as to why your PC slowed down to a freeze (even after clicking yes to leave.) I've clicked on sites from torrents on Chrome in the past that mass opened tabs as fast as it possibly could that actually gave me BSOD as I assume RAM or CPU just couldn't keep up any longer. I have wound up on these sites plenty of times and nothing has happened. No personal information has been stolen, PC has no viruses and hasn't shit out, ect. If you didn't click anything to download and nothing is showing in your download history, it's safe to assume you are in the clear.
What software did you run by chance to scan for threats?
If you're really "paranoid" about it however - if you haven't already - run the scan with MalwareBytes, AdwCleaner and maybe top it off with Hitman Pro. You can try scanning while in safe mode if that is any ease of mind for you. I would also check in your control panel > uninstall section and see if there is anything there that you for sure know shouldn't be there. Filter by installation date to help with this.

Was just a scam more than likely, unless it was an attempt at ransomware

Thank you for the answer, I think it was just one of those pop-ups (hopefully anyway) as I've found nothing downloaded when I checked the control panel or on my download history. I've already used MalwareBytes but i'll be sure to use the other two just to completely check everything, thank you again
