I want to dye my hair blonde, not so platinum but sort of dark blonde as I think it'll suit be better. I have sort of brown hair but it isn't dark. I at first wanted to go to a hair salon to obviously get it done by a professional but I spoke to a friend and she said that you shouldn't waste money on going to a hair salon if you have short hair which I do.

The advice I'm looking for is what sort of hair dye should I use, e.g. the brand, color and if anyone has any techniques etc etc for dyeing hair then it would be appreciated. Also, how long will it last for and what sort of maintenance does it require.

Get it done by someone who know's what they are doing for the love of god.

If you mix peroxide / colouring wrong the chance of your hair becoming either ruined or turning green is high.

Depending on your hair colour now then it may take multiple attempts in regular instalments. It can be like putting white paint on top of black paint - it will go a horrible wish washy grey colour, unless you reapply overcoats

Stop being cheap and do it proper. Otherwise you could look like an unattractive skunk.

I can get my mother to do it because she has experience with it since she dyes her own hair but I could go to a salon. Ain't no problem.
