In fairness, United States and Russia should improve relations instead of worsening them. No idea why they continue to put sanctions towards Russia when you have bigger problems such as the Syrian Civil War and North Korea to deal with. The two countries have been at it for a long time. I actually wonder if we will ever see Russia and the US ever get along, I'm not too certain as both countries have different views on international policy.

I can see something happening in the near future involving Russia and USA, Not a WW3 but something close to it. There's alot of tension lately and that included Kim-Jong Un too. Just a gut feeling I have.

It just goes to show what happen's when 1 human is given too much power.

Seems like Russia and the United States will never have "good blood" between them, this has been a thing ever since the Cold War. What's surprising to me is that Russia/U.S. were allies during the second World War and then, the conflict of the Cold War created a fracture between these two, even though U.S. soldiers and USSR soldiers never really got into direct battles.

The sanctions put in place by Obama after the Crimea annexation in 2014 were perfectly fine and reasonable and should have been put in place.
The sanctions put in place by Obama again shortly before he left office because of 'Russian meddling in the US election' were not fine and reasonable.
No evidence has been provided to show that Russia had anything to do with Trump winning the election and these sanctions were entirely baseless.

So if they were just strengthening the sanctions made in 2014 I would have absolutely no problem taking the side of the US here and saying that Russia shouldn't be doing this because they deserved those sanctions. But they are strengthening not only the 2014 sanctions, but the post-election sanctions too.

And why has Trump decided to escalate like this and not veto this bill?
I say this as a leftist who, if I lived in the US, would be a Democrat:

Would Putin's puppet escalate like this? No.
He's tired of people calling him their puppet, this is his way of showing that he's not, are they going to stop calling him it after this? Of course not.

The Democrats are being incredibly dense when it comes to Russia.
They have managed to work themselves into the position where the mainstream view is: If Trump doesn't escalate with Russia then he is Putin's puppet.
This means that because they don't want Trump to be Putin's puppet the logical conclusion to their position is that they want escalation with Russia.

When the default view of your party is that escalation with another nuclear armed country is a good thing that's when you know you done goofed.

The US just violated the Iran Nuclear Deal then?
Part of the deal was that the US wouldn't add any new sanctions.

Sanctions don't work on the regime in North Korea because all they have to do is take resources away from the people in the country, meaning that they starve even more, and they give those resources to the regime which is now too strong for the people of the country to topple.
The regime in North Korea does not care about the people in North Korea - the sanctions hurt the people, not the regime.
The US and other countries need to work out a new way of hurting the regime in North Korea, because sanctions don't.

Russia isn't the only one with the thought of countermeasures against America in lieu of the new sanctions; the whole of EU is ready for counter-economic sanctions against the US over the new sanctions on Russia (surprise, surprise.)
