Nintendo Switch is Getting a Resident Evil: Revelations 1 and 2 Bundle Later This Year

Resident Evil: Revelations 1 and 2 are coming to Nintendo Switch in one glorious, necrotic bundle toward the end of the year, Capcom has announced. It's also bringing the original Resident Evil: Revelations to PS4 and Xbox One on August 29th.

The good news for everyone is that Resident Evil: Revelations is pretty damned fun, and a pleasing return to the series' spooky old-school exploration roots. It won a decent amount of praise back when it first released on 3DS in 2012, and was equally well received in its later higher-resolution guise on Xbox 360 and PS3. It also stars Jill

For those not in the know, most of Revelations unfolds on a grand old ocean liner, which is wonderfully reminiscent of the original Resident Evil's creepy mansion. As sucha few unnecessary (but thankfully brisk) off-ship shooter sequences asideit was about as close a return to the series' heyday as it looked like we were ever going to get at a time when Capcom was absolutely convinced that Resident Evil would be better as a Call of Duty.

In its new-fangled PS4 and Xbox One guise, Resident Evil: Revelations is presented at 1080p, and with an "improved frame rate". There's also increased environmental detail and refined creature movement, all of which you can see in the trailer above.

As for Switch owners, well. Not only do you get the already pretty nifty Resident Evil: Revelations, you get its far superior sequel in the same package. As far as I'm concerned, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is bloody ace, nixing virtually all of its predecessor's crappy action bits and focusing on pure, unadulterated spooky-place horror instead. It's full of suspiciously angry biological whoopsie-daisies trying to kill you, and is just a tonne of fun, with a unabashedly dotty Resident Evil 2 vibe to the whole thing. I loved it.

Oh, and it's designed around co-op play with a bunch of interesting, effective two-person puzzles and split-action sequences. Rest assured though, it's a wonderfully entertaining solo experience as well, which is more than can be said of the series' last attempt at co-op in Resident Evil 5. So basically, what I'm saying is, Switch owners have a lot to look forward to here, unless Capcom does something daft. Like say, not release Monster Hunter XX on Switch in the west. *Glares angrily in Capcom's direction*
