i, First I have to point out I am from Canada and I do not want to order from outside Canada if possible. I would like to build a gaming desktop, mostly for gaming but would still use it for school. I mostly play League of legend and Overwatch so I would like to be able to run them at max setting if possible. I might also pick up destiny 2 but i do not mind playing it at medium.

This is the build I came up with I would like to know if everything fit together and if its possible to change some things to get better for my money. Also I would like the build to be easy to upgrade in the future. Even though i might not overclock right now I want a build that can.

-Couple question: 1- Is the Amd Ryzen 5 1500x a must or is the new Amd Ryzen 3 1300x perect for me?

2- Do I need 16Gb or ram now or 1 stick of 8Gb is enough( I heard with only 1 stick you loose the an option for effeciency) Or maybe 2x 4Gb now and later add 2x8Gb? As for the DDR4-3000 I heard Ryzen go well with higher speed memory so i like the 3000 since i might upgrade the CPU later on but I am open to suggestion! Also on pcpartpicker, the 3000 dosent show on the motherboard compatibility list but on the MSI website I saw that it was so is it ok? Also when buying there is an option to either get it ''C15 or c16'', what is that and which one do I need?

3-Is the SSD 120Gb enough? Is it needed?

4- The power supply is actually a EVGA 600BQ 80+ Bronze. Again Since I might upgrade is 600w enough? Is too much? And is the difference between the Evga 600B and the Evga 600BQ something that matter?

5- For the case I picked the cheapest one that did not look so bad so I am open for suggestion but I would like to stay under 80$ CAD.

6- Do I need CPU Cooler? Or I will be alright with what I have. I rather pay a couple more buck and make sure everything is well cooled off though. Since I happen to game a lot on my days off!!!

So sorry for my bad English and thank you for your HELP!!!!

goose007 wrote Is the Amd Ryzen 5 1500x a must

No?

goose007 wrote or is the new Amd Ryzen 3 1300x perect for me?

Also no. Don't buy an "x" variant, either get an R3 1200 or an R5 1400 and OC to the 1300x or 1500x speeds. The R3 1300x is the exact same CPU as the 1200, just with slightly higher clock speeds out of the box. Same goes for the 1400 and 1500x, as well as the R5 1600 and 1600x. As for which one to get, that's up to you. You haven't told us what programs/applications you'll be using, if any. For the 3 games you listed, an R3 1200 would be fine.

goose007 wrote Do I need 16Gb or ram now

You don't "need" 16GB RAM, no. Is it useful, sure, it can be.

goose007 wrote Or maybe 2x 4Gb now and later add 2x8Gb?

Not possible with the motherboard you chose, it only has 2 DIMM slots. It's a bad motherboard choice anyway IMO.

goose007 wrote As for the DDR4-3000 I heard Ryzen go well with higher speed memory so i like the 3000 since i might upgrade the CPU later on but I am open to suggestion! Also on pcpartpicker, the 3000 dosent show on the motherboard compatibility list but on the MSI website I saw that it was so is it ok? Yes, Ryzen favours faster RAM. Best RAM set up for Ryzen is 2x8GB at 2933-3200MHz. 8GB is fine though, and it's easy enough to add RAM. If you go with 8GB, 2x4GB will be better, but not by a huge margin(AFAIK) so you're better off getting 1x8GB(unless 2x4GB is a good bit cheaper) as that gives you more room for future upgradability. "C15 or c16" is CAS latency, it's the timings of the RAM. It's not a huge issue, so you can ignore it, for the most part. Motherboard manufacturers will have a QVL for RAM with Ryzen.

goose007 wrote Is the SSD 120Gb enough? Is it needed?

Enough for what? Is it needed, not necessarily, but you should absolutely have an SSD in your system.

goose007 wrote Again Since I might upgrade is 600w enough?

Again, enough for what? We don't know what you plan on upgrading to. You're not going to be able to put an R9 295x2 in a system with a cheap, Bronze rated 600W PSU.

goose007 wrote Do I need CPU Cooler? Or I will be alright with what I have. I rather pay a couple more buck and make sure everything is well cooled off though

The R3 1200 and R5 1400 come with the lower end stock AM4 cooler. It's sufficient for stock clocks, and maybe a little overclocking. If you really want to OC your CPU though, you will want to invest in an aftermarket cooler. I think the 1300x comes with the same stock cooler as the 1200 and 1400, and the R5 1500x might have the better stock AM4 cooler. I can't remember if the 1500x comes with a cooler or not though, because I know the 1600x, 1700x, and 1800x don't come with an included cooler.

What is your maximum budget for this system, in CAD?
What games will you be playing other than the ones you've listed, if any?
What programs/applications will you use, if any?
Will you overclock?
Any aesthetic preference(colour scheme, side panel window, LEDs, etc)?
What monitor will you be using with this system?
Anything else?

What is your maximum budget for this system, in CAD?

Around 900-1000$

What games will you be playing other than the ones you've listed, if any?
As of now, no.

What programs/applications will you use, if any?
Word, excel, some business app for accounting.

Will you overclock?
I would like too.

Any aesthetic preference(colour scheme, side panel window, LEDs, etc)?
Ill be ok but i might upgrade later on. But i dont know which one yet.

If you think my motherboard is a bad one can you recommend on that fit with everything else?
Should I try to get a GTX1060 3Gb or ill be fine with my GTX1050Ti?
Can you also recommend a better PSU since you said its a bad one(I heard a semi-modular or modular is easier for beginner).

Thank you a lot for your intake, well appreciated.

$250CAD left to play with if you want. With that, you can invest in a better/nicer case, if you wish. Or, you could put some towards a better motherboard, and/or an aftermarket CPU cooler. Alternative RAM choice;

Slightly slower, but 1x8GB instead. Or, you could get a 2x8GB kit if you wish. Another way you could spend some of that extra $250CAD, you could grab a 240-256GB SSD instead of the 120GB.

More expensive alternative, slightly over the top end of your budget. You get a much nicer/better case, a larger/better SSD, a nicer/better motherboard, an aftermarket cooler, and 16GB RAM instead of 8GB. Or, you could even sacrifice something here, like the nicer case, or the extra RAM and swap the R3 1200 for an R5 1400.

goose007 wrote Should I try to get a GTX1060 3Gb or ill be fine with my GTX1050Ti?

Mid ranged GPUs, like the 3GB GTX 1060 and above are all ridiculously priced right now. A GTX 1050Ti is fine.

The 6GB GTX 1060 is a much better option than a 3GB 1060 and $330CAD isn't too terrible. That said, the 1050Ti is still fine, and with the 6GB 1060, you sacrifice SSD, RAM, and motherboard, plus you get the cheaper Eclipse P400 with the normal side panel window, instead of tempered glass.

goose007 wrote Can you also recommend a better PSU since you said its a bad one(I heard a semi-modular or modular is easier for beginner)

I never said the PSU you chose was bad, but we have no idea what you want it to be "enough for". The EVGA 450W B3 is well priced in Canada right now, and is fully modular so that's probably what I'd go for. 450W is plenty for the vast majority of modern single GPU systems(if not, all). That said, you can spend an extra $20-30 or so the 650W or 750W variant of the EVGA B3 if you wish.
