So for the longest time I have been looking into a VPN router and I was wondering which is the best for the money! Main reason I need one is I mod on the Xbox 360 and i play PC games PS4 and Xbox one occasionally and I get hit off A LOT! If network speeds is a need to know I have around 300 down and 60 up and Google Fiber is coming so hopefully ill have it soon.

Current Contenders

Netduma R1- this is a contender because it is relatively cheap has VPN capabilities and a few other things. My main problem is that it is focused towards gamers (which I am) and most things "gaming" usually don't perform well. But looking at reviews it seems to be a solid touter for the price.

Linksys WRT AC1200- To be honest this is only a contender because it is cheap

And there are a few others such as the netgear nighthawk and a few other brands but i want to know what is the best for me.

the AC1750 is a good router right between your budget there. It has the vpn capabilities, and a decent speed.

That or the nighthawk x6/x4 both are good. But you have to be sure they are compatible with your line, we don't know if you have fiber or just a upgraded line.

You should be fine getting either or of the two i linked. If i remember properly there used to be a way to use a raspberry pi and a switch to make a small router for a VPN. Only really useful if you know linux.
