My headphones wouldnt go all the way in so i then took a q tip and tried to clean out the port. When i pulled the q tip out it had a bunch of gooey "grease" like substance on the end. So my headphones then went in all the way and worked fine. When i pulled them out i couldnt hear anything because it says HEADPHONE MODE. Any way to fix this issue? Ive tried nearly everything and i really need my phone for work this week. I cant hear messages, ringtones, anything.

Did you try hard resetting it by holding the home and lock button down at the same time for 10 seconds?

Yes i have. I have tried that, the airplane mode trick, and play a song all the way through and mess with volume, etc. NOTHING! I really dont want to take my phone to be repaired because i need it this week for work but not being able to tell if i receive a message or call is very frustrating.

if nothing works, factory reset. If that fails then you need to get it repaired

I had that, i left it for like a day and it dried up whatever was inside of it and it worked fine. But, if it is that greasy then you'll probably have to get a way of cleaning it out so it can dry up or send it off to be fixed

UPDATE!
I did a backup on my iPhone and reset it and then restored it. It fixed the issue. I will still be taking it to the Apple Store this weekend to be sure it isnt a hardware issue seeing I just bought the phone not to long ago.
