Everything was fine a few days ago opening .ai files with Illustrator. Now I can't open any .ai files most of the time. My computer will start up Illustrator but no file will load. Occasionally, the files I tried to open will all open and load at once after a reboot. But after the reboot, the files will not open again. I uninstalled Illustrator and reinstalled, however, this has not fixed the problem. I'm also having trouble exiting out of Illustrator, it won't let me close the program at times. I'm using a HP Notebook with the Windows OS. Any ideas of what to do?

End all tasks with illustrator; delete all illustrator files (in pc for illustrator only not your AI files) and then unistall, restart pc; download again.

Have you tried placing it into a new .ai file? Sometimes works.

1) Open the preferences file and look for the entry named "enableContentRecovery", change the value from 0 to 1. This turns on the feature.

2) Launch Illustrator and choose "File>Open". Select the file from which you wish to recover the roundtrip information.

3) Click "OK" while holding down the command, shift and option keys (control, shift and alt on Windows).
2) In that case, if these suggestions do not help, you can try a wonderful illustrator file recovery tool as Illustrator Recovery Toolbox. It will help you to recover the file. There is a demo and also tech support, so you can check whether it will be useful to you or not. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
