If she's only using it while she's there you might as well get her a desktop for that price, if not then it's a pretty decent laptop for the price - having a 17" can get pretty hefty if she's going to be travelling with it, I have one and it's not the best to travel with unless you want to spend another 100+ for a decent laptop bag that doesn't look like a mountain on her back!

The specs are good though, would be nicer if it had an ssd, I have msi gs70 2Qe and it runs real nice, gets a little hot depending on what you're running on it but that still runs everything very well and is a little outdated now

Setup is nice although I'm not too keen on the 1050 in a 1k build, don't see an SSD either.

Have a look at these two - both the same the 2nd one has a 256GB SSD along with the 1TB HDD. Both have GTX 1060 3GB which is going to be more powerful than the 1050 4GB. Although if you aren't looking to do heavy gaming then there's not much point in the 1060. Just a suggestion though

I would recommend [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

u can watch reviews on youtube, its a great value laptop.

i would go with the $900 config which has i5 quadcore no HT @2.8ghz, 3.5ghz boost. 256gb ssd, 8gb ddr4 ram, and GTX 1050ti.

For the price you wont beat this laptop in terms of performance. Will play any game at 1080p 60fps on high settings.

If u want to spend more then 900 then I would go with [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

A little bit more money but u get 1TB hdd AND 128gb ssd along with a more powerful GPU with the 1060, and you get an i7 which has 4 cores and hyper threading. also has 16gb ram.

In terms of performance per dollar, the $900 dell is unbeatable by any competitor.

Would you ever consider building a desktop for her?
