Hi Everyone,

I am after advice for my health and fitness as I'm running a marathon in July for a close family friend who's 10 and just beaten cancer, I'm wanting to make enough money to be able to send her to Disney land in Paris for her birthday I'm August so this is a big challenge for me as it's not that far away so if anyone can recommend me any training and eating methods it would really mean and help me out a lot.

Thanks

Mark

If you want to be become better at running long distances, then running long distances would be the best way to train.

Just make sure that you're eating a good diet and you'll be fine. In terms of foods, high carb foods would be the best. Things like rice and pasta and so on because they're so calorie dense and high in energy. Weight plays a really big part in running too, so if you're carrying a lot of extra weight then losing some wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'm sure you'll be fine though, good luck buddy!

Here are my quick tips off the top of my head.

4-6 Small meals a day.
Drink water till your body explodes then drink some more.

You need to achieve progressive overload when training. This means gradually increasing your running speed or distance. Dont set out running 5 miles then next week jump to 7 miles.

Set a SMART goal - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time bound. This will help you monitor progress and helps alot with motivation.

I would recommend doing two training techniques. Research Fartlek training and Muscular endurance training.

This isn't helpful with your main question, but that's amazing she beat cancer. It's really nice to hear when people are blessed to beat it, especially at such a young age. (i hope that doesn't sound offensive, it's good to hear people beat it at any age)But do you have a page or something for people to support your run and give some donations? I'd be happy to donate for the race and help with achieving your target - Please PM if you do
