My Grading percentage:
Exams worth 50% of my final grade.
Homework worth 40% of my final grade.
-
My Graded Assessments so far;
Exam 1: 63
Exam 2: 83
Exam 3: 93
3 Total Exams so far
-
Homework 1-5: 11/14 (this is 5 total homework in one grade)
Homework 6: C (homework number 6)
Homework 7: B (homework number 7)
-
(Homework 5 & 6 were given letter grades on our school website rather than the points scored outta the total) my school website is dumb and wont show the grades till the end of the semester. can someone please calculate my grade with the exam and homework percentage (exam 50% of final grade and homework 40%) and tell me what percentage or letter grade i have so far! thanks so much in advance, I am bad at math so I do not know how to do it!
-
also for other 10 percent of my grade, is my final paper. what would my grade be as of now with the given graded assessments, also what would my grade be if i end up with a 85/100 on my final paper thats worth 10 percent

Well, let's work this out.

All the exams totaled up are 239, so now we divide that by 3 (total number of exams taken) to get the average which is 79.666.

Homework I'll just go with the old way of grading which is an A is 90%, B is 80% and so on. For your homework, your average is 75%.

Now we multiply these numbers by the percentage. For example, your exams are an average of 79.666, and account for 0.5 of your grade. 79.666*0.5=39.83. Your homework is 75*0.4=30. Now you add 39.83+30 and you come out with a final grade of 69.83 or a D+ almost a C-, it will probably be rounded to a C-.

EDIT: You also then have to factor in the last 10% of what ever which will probably bump you up to about a 76-77% (C+) if your numbers are steady.

Just edited my post, you're missing another 10% somewhere which if your numbers are steady will bump you up to about 76-77% or a C+.

Sorry, I did my math wrong, I didn't see 1-5, for homework I just calculated 5 and 6. So updated with 1-7 your total is 76%, then we multiply that by 0.4 and come up with 30.4, then we add that to the 39.83 to come up with 70.23% total grade plus the missing 10% which I assume is class assignments?

One thing I'm having trouble with is your homework, you say 1-5 is 11/14 then say 5 is a C, so is 5 a C or is 5 a 11/14? If it's a C then that comes out to a 77% which is 30.8% to your final grade which comes out to 70.63% plus the missing 10%. If homework 5 is an 11/14, then that would come out to 78.33% for your homework, or 31.33% to your final grade for a final grade of 71.16% plus the missing 10% of the final grade.

I'm having a lot of trouble with the way you're wording things in the homework lol, can you post what all the final numbers are in 1 post?

Okie dokie, let's clear up my confusion lol.

EXAMS:
63+83+93=293. We take 293 and divide that by the 3 exams taken to find the average which is 79.66%. Since this is 50% of your grade, we multiply 79.66 by 0.5 and come out with 39.83%.

HOMEWORK:
11/14=78%
78+78+78+78+78+70+80=540. Again we take 540 and divide that by 7 to come up with an average score of 77.14%. Since this is 40% of the grade, we multiply 77.14*0.4 to come up with 30.85%.

TOTAL:
Now we just add them up, so 39.83+30.85=70.68%. In your PM you sent me, you asked what if you scored an 85% in what ever category accounts for the remaining 10%. Again we just work out the math, 85*0.1=8.5%. Now we add 8.5+70.68 to come up with 79.18% final grade.
