Hey Guys,

I have been posting all day trying to research capture cards narrowing down which product I should get and I am basically going to get a Elgato Game Capture HD.

I am only recording retro game footage such as PS2, Gamecube and older consoles, and seeing that the Angry Video Game Nerd records all his footage using a DVD Recorder, when he records loads of things and they're all perfect standard I was wondering is this a good idea for me?

I am only really considering it because the capture card is quite expensive for me but if it is truly my best option I will buy it. But with my circumstances should I try the DVD recorder, is it simple to do? do you just have the recorder connected to the TV, with a blank DVD disc in it, and have your console hooked up to your TV too, press record on the player and it records the gameplay footage onto the disc?

I kind of imagine it to be like a TV that I had as a kid that had a record button, and if i wad playing a console on the TV with a blank tape in the TV's VHS player then hit record it would record the footage onto the tape as easy as cake.

But I mean If you have any reasons as to why a DVD recorder would suck in comparison to the Elgato capture card I would love to hear them because that's what I need to know since I have been narrowed down to just these two products
