I'm currently on JSA been on it now for around 3 months and I can't seem to get a job no matter how many ive applied for. I really want a apprenticeship. I'm just at a lose end I really don't know what to do. You see people just sponging of JSA and it makes me feel sick as I'm actually trying so hard to find work, but we all get tied underneath the sane brush. What should I do? I'm always unhappy as most of my friends all have jobs and making decent money and then there's me picking up 115 quid every fortnight:/

I am kind of in the same boat but I am attending college so I am looking for weekend work but its so hard when you have no experience. Most jobs require at least 1 year or some crap which is annoying. All I can say to you is keep trying look online , go around your town handing out cvs etc.. thats the only way in my eyes. Or else if you have family abroad you could go over and work there or something I am thinking about doing that next summer.

I was looking for a job a few months ago, I had no luck going around handing in my CV. Go into some pubs and see if they are hiring. I managed to get some money by wiping down tables and glass collecting. It wasn't a permanent job, they called me when it was busy so I could help out. It's not much but it is something. The hours can be tricky, sometimes I was called midday, sometimes I was called the same day to help out till midnight. Just don't give up. If you have a local market place with stalls; try asking around them.

As for apprenticeships go on [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and keep checking every day until something you are looking for comes up.

Goodluck, just keep looking.

You stay on JSA long enough you'll get referred to The Work Programme, they're actually quite useful and should be able to help you get a apprenticeship.

You usually get referred after 4 months i believe.

I was on JSA for about 8 Months and I was applying for any job even retail and getting nothing then I went on courses to improve my Qualifications and interview training then in the end basically I got an apprenticeship working as a IT Technician. Things take time because you,re not the only one applying for them jobs so just keep applying for apprenticeships i'm sure something will turn up soon good luck

I know it's a stress-y job looking to find a job of your will, don't get too stressed out because it's not right to get stressed out. If you can't find a job or you feel you can't find a job. Apprenticeships is a good one to go for as some apprenticeships pays you. I was going to go on a apprenticeship as I went to the careers office to look for help. They're useless! 1 year later I found a job. Good luck!

I don't know how things work over there, but if you were in the US, here's what I'd tell you to do. If you want to get into an apprenticeship and make a lot of money in your job, forget about finding a job (right now). Say you want to be an electrician for example. You'd find an IBEW NECA electricians union and apply for an apprenticeship there. A lot, if not all union will find you jobs. For example, I'm in the carpenters and joiners union and if I'm out of work, they will find me jobs until I find myself a solid job or until one of those job they find me picks me up full time.

Again, not sure how things work over there, but I hope you can take something out of that.
