Hey,

Real simple question today, and I'm asking simply because I'm curious and I'd like to expand my knowledge on modified consoles. Why can't any modified console(s) like JTAGs and RGHs system update without getting bricked? Is it similar to why you can't OTA update *some* OEM rooted Android phones?

Thanks, and detailed explanations are appreciated.

ok the update xbox put out for you to update blocks xex menu so by updating by usb the security is bypasses still ollowing us to use xex menu and all the other exsploits

thats why we use xebuild or jrunner to update and i think if ur console gets bricked u can fix it if u have ur origional hacked image and nand i hope i helped

Thanks, that helps a bit, I didn't know that each system update actually blocks XeX Menu, but my question was why does it actually 'brick' the console and make it not boot as everyone says it does?

Google "LDV's and why they are important" you'll find the answer there. It's pretty technical and it'll take a while to explain here.

The console uses a modified image (nand) to boot and run unsigned code. When you do a system update with any console it'll update the nand image of the console. If your console is exploited and running a modified nand and you try to update, then it will blow the fuses on your console. Not exactly 100% sure why (I have a slight idea), but it does. It has nothing to do with xex menu like the user before said.

Thanks, that's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much!
