The milky way is our galaxy within the universe.

Here's just some extra info for you.
The universe is an estimated 45 Billion light years across consisting of everything known to man. Scientists believe there are at least 100 Billion galaxies in the observable universe alone. Some are smaller and some are larger than our own milky way. The milky way is 100,000 light years across. The milky way, alone, has roughly 300 million stars in it. The closest one to us is 4 light years away. With current technology it would take a space craft nearly 80,000 years to reach it....
