My CPU is an Intel i7 4700MQ @2.4 ghz, I'm trying to load it up to keep it steady at around 3.1-3.4 without the heat getting out of control.

Primarily so I can have the recommended settings on BF4 any ideas?

Someone is probably going to say oc it but doing that to a laptop is a terrible idea.

Ocing is increasing the speed, they are the same thing. You probably wont be able to OC much if at all.

I wouldn't want to, I know i have reached 3.5 ghz with turbo on WoW before but the heat made me bring it back down.

If you do have control of clock speeds and voltages you could try turning off turbo and then seeing if you can lower the voltage of that clock speed. As voltage usually equals heat that should help if you were happy with keeping it at a particular clock.

Which graphics are you running in that lappy?

I do not have control, I only can reach that on load. I have no clue how to control it. Heres my specs for your convenience.

If you can tell me how to control the speed I will.

What sort of temperatures do you get to while you game?

If you like install HWMonitor and leave it open while you play WoW and it'll record the highest temperature you get. If its just a case of you feeling uncomfortable about the heat rather than it being dangerous it might be worth leaving.

Or if you wanted to anyway, take the underside off and see if the fans need a clean.

I actually have recorded the highest temperatures. I'm trying to boost the speed to at least 3.0 ghz steady, here are the temps:
CPU- *max ever seen* 68 C
MOBO- 60 C
780M- 62 C
HDD - 58 C

Your processor is rated for operating up to 100c so you're perfectly within its safety limit for temperature.

I'm confused with what you're asking. CPU clock changes in response to load to save power and keep temps down. Speccy will only show you the base speed without Turbo, so using something like [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] will let you see what's actually going on.
