Alcatraz Island is located in the San Francisco Bay, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) offshore from San Francisco, California, United States.[2] Often referred to as "The Rock," the small island was developed with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison (1868), and a federal prison from 1933 until 1963.[3] Beginning in November 1969, the island was occupied for more than 19 months by a group of Aboriginal Peoples from San Francisco who were part of a wave of Native activism across the nation with public protests through the 1970s. In 1972 Alcatraz became a national recreation area and received designation as a National Historic Landmark in 1986.

Alcatraz island has always been imagined to be the perfect, mysterious island, a perfect place for a Zombies map to take place in. With mysterious usages, horrors of stories, and lots of mysteries held within, it is the perfect place to have a map to take place in.

The map is consisted of lots of haunting and gruesome scenarios. Hanging bodies surround the entire map, and bloody marks on the walls throughout. Scriptures of writings written on walls surround the entire map, what this means is now unknown, but will soon be revealed.

"Pop Goes the Weasel" Main Side Quest Easter Egg Guide!
This is the main side quest easter egg guide on Mob of the Dead. I believe this will be one of the first posts on TTG to post this full guide, so here it is. So basically, before hand, you're going to need a couple of things done already. Here are the following that need to be done:
-Hell's Retriever Acquired (Can be done by seeing the tutorial below this one)
-The Plane built to accessing the Golden Gate Bridge (See tutorial below for more info
-4 Total players (I suggest most of them have a general sense of what they're doing
-I suggest Juggernog as this will get tricky, and may take some time.

The first step is to make your way to the Michigan cell blocks. Look in the cells for a cell that contains a poster on the wall, which looks green and blue. Hold down the Tomahawk button, and throw it at the wall. The poster should now disappear.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Next, go directly into Afterlife mode, and follow the one Afterlife pathway that is right next to the cells. Go forward a bit, and look to the right, you should see a spoon on the Ground. Zap it in Afterlife mode, and the spoon should now, disappear into thin air.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Go to the cafeteria and travel to the far barrier in the area. Look to the right outside of the barrier, and there should be a spoon there. Hold your tomahawk for 3 seconds, and throw it at it.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The first thing after this is that you're going to need to do is make your way to the roof, and take a trip to the GG bridge with at least one other player. This is essential because it will unlock access to the Skulls which will be found later on in the guide.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

After you have done so, you're going to want to use the electric chairs to get back to the island. Once done, you're going to want to find 5 total blue skulls. This is where the Tomahawk comes into play; you'll be using them to retrieve the skulls to yourself. The first skull is located on the docks. For each of these skulls, you're going to have to go into Afterlife mode, and then shock each of the skulls in Afterlife mode several times (About 3) until they spark and light up with a blue tint. Once done, remember the exact location. You will not be able to see the skulls in normal mode, so make sure you remember. The first one is on the docks, right here.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Get your tomahawk back, and continue. The next skull is a bit tricky; you're going to need to ride the gondola from the top down. On your way down, look out the back, and then throw your tomahawk at it after shocking it prior. The skull should latch towards you.

Right in this area:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now, continue on your way towards the library in Afterlife mode. Across from the library, should be a line of jail cells; in one of these will be the blue skull (They don't spawn in the same cell each time, usually in the middle one however). Shock it in purgatory mode, and retrieve it back with the tomahawk.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Make your way to the wardens office. Once entered, go to the far window, and look out the barrier window. You should see a house, and the shore outside. There should be a transformer light grid outside as well; look at the top of it, and shock it in afterlife, and retrieve it w/Tomahawk (It looks too far away, but trust me, aim it in the general direction and you should be good).
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Next, go all the way back to the roof. The skull is located all the way at the back of the roof, towards one of the open balconies. Look for it in Afterlife, you can't miss it, and shock it. Once you've found it, retrieve it with the tomahawk.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now make your way back to the Warden's office, and you'll have a nice surprise on the desk; there will be a fire set, and the Blunder Gat set on there as well. Make SURE you retrieve it, as it continues the story.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The next step may take you a while to get used to, but you'll get the hang of it eventually. Basically, you must free the prisoners by heading to the bottom of the spiral stairs in Afterlife mode and shocking the numbers according to the prisoner numbers like so. This is unconfirmed, but to make this work, it apparently has been said you need to travel to the GG bridge a total of 3 times before doing this. Once you get back, the number pads will shift in sequence and flicker. This means it is correct, and you can enter the numbers. So basically, enter afterlife mode, and have one player go to the number pad and shock the pads to enter these numbers accordingly IN ORDER. If they are out of order, or you accidentally go one too high, just keep shocking it as the number goes back down to zero after 9 is entered. Also, once you enter in a correct number, they will reset to a random number, this means it is correct. So go to the pad, and shock these numbers accordingly;

1-0-1
8-7-2
3-8-6
4-8-1

Once this is done correctly, your screen will turn black and white, and you'll hear audio logs. Listen to it, and then once finished it will lead you up to the roof. You'll make your way up by going through the doors that lead to the infirmary, and if done correct you'll see these power drops on the floor:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Just before you hit the roof, the last audio log will be played. This will indicate you've done it correctly, so once done you'll get the last one. Now, for the final step, all players need to enter into Afterlife mode. If you've done this step correctly, once you enter afterlife mode, your afterlife ticker will not count down, it will stay infinite. Once you've done this correctly, go to the plane, and move around holding "X", until you are boarded on the plane (YOU WILL NOT GET AN INDICATOR SAYING YOU CAN GET ON THE PLANE, SO DON'T PANIC WHEN YOU DON'T GET THE INDICATION, simply hold "X" until you're on the plane. Then the plane will take off and crash onto the GG bridge.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Then, get to the electric chairs and find your character. Revive him, and get back up, when you do this the Weasel (Al Arlington) will have a KILL symbol above his head. If you listen to the Audio Logs you can hear the other 3 players talking about killing the Weasel. This is a message from the future, but you can choose to BREAK the future basically, by letting the Weasel kill all of you. You can choose either one, both will get you the achievement, I suggest letting the Weasel kill the rest of you so you can break the cycle. But this is what it looks like when you get there.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You can choose 2 options

Let Weasel kill all 3 of you: Break the Cycle
Kill Weasel: Continue the Cycle

In Story terms, I would break the cycle as it makes it a more interesting predicament, but it is all up to you. Once you've done either of these, the game will end (Finally an ending to Zombies )

How to Build the Plane/Get to Golden Gate Bridge/Pack-a-Punch
Getting to the pack-a-punch on this map is quite a lengthy task actually. For the Packapunch you first need to craft the Plane, and from this you have to fly off to the GG bridge. Here is the Pack-a-Punch, but here lies a whole lot of Zombies as well. To craft the plane follow these steps:

The First step is by making your way to the bottom stairs, and entering Afterlife mode through there. This will kill yourself, and respawn yourself in a new area. Find the nearest Afterlife portal, and go through it. Follow the pathway shown in the video below, to that area, and shock that mechanism with your afterlife powers. Make your way to the above portal, shock it, and revive yourself. The Key will spawn nearby.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Nextly, head to the dock, and find a gate which can be opened. Open it, and use the afterlife machine right in that spot. Literally turn your head a few inches, and you'll find the clock mechanism; shock it to turn it off, and a door to the right will open. Revive yourself, and find the gas tanks to the right of you.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Next make your way up to the top of the spiral stair case. Find the Afterlife switch at the top, and use it in that spot. Now, slowly make your way down the stairs, and on the left, pay attention to the order of the numbers. There may be various numbers, but memorize them, and in which order they come down the stairs. They will look like this;
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Then, go down fully and shock the enablers as many times in the order that you saw going down the stairs.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Revive yourself, go down the stairs fully, make a left to find a gate. Behind that gate is the part you just unlocked.

Make your way to the middle area of the map inside the cells. There should be an afterlife option there. Use it, and find machines all in that room (There are 3) and shock them using your afterlife powers. This will unlock a jail cell nearby, which will spawn with a green hue, find it, and open the gate. The next part will be in that cell.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Make your way to the roof, but right before the roof entry, there will be a little case with a green glowing object inside of it; find it, Open it, and take what is inside. This is a needed piece. Next make your way to the downstairs laundry area. Find the afterlife option in the laundry/shower room, and make your way to the back. There will be a powered mechanism nearby a clothe washer. Find this, shock it, and then go back and revive yourself. This will enable the clothe washer to be turned on. Find it, turn it on, and this will start the cycle. Make sure to find cover, because loads of Zombies will begin attacking you. Survive the mob, and then you will be rewarded with the next piece located in the clothe washing machine where you found it.

Next make your way to the roof, this will be the last step; find a little ramp area, Go up to it, with all of the pieces, hold X to craft the plane, and then get on it. Take off will occur, and you'll land in the Pack-a-Punch area.

How to Get the Golden Spork Melee Weapon
The Golden spork melee weapon is by far one of the best melee weapons we've ever been introduced to in Zombies. The Golden spork is a melee weapon in Zombies which can be achieved by doing the following steps. The Weapon also allows melee attacks to be one-hit-kills until round 30+ It acts like a regular knife, however it makes knifing one hit kills. To understand the full guide, watch this video, for an extremely good understanding of how to get the Golden Spork. There is no confirmation what round it wears off.

How to Upgrade the Hell's Retriever Tomahawk (Hell's Redeemer)
Many Zombie's players have been putting much use to the new implemented tomahawk in Zombies, and it has been a crucial implementation. The Tomahawk is a very neat feature, however, many people do not know that it can be upgraded to a more powerful version. Basically, this new and improved version of the Tomahawk allows the tomahawk to deliver more damage when thrown, and more range. It also works very well at short distance of throwing. Getting this upgrade is quite simple as well. Find your way to the middle of the jail cells, to around the area of where the Hellhound spawns near Electric cherry. Look down and you should see a long and deep pit of fire (The Hell Hole). Get at an angle which is reachable, and throw your tomahawk down towards it. It should disappear, and you should not be able to get it back. Now, head over to where you pick it up in the tunnel. Go into Afterlife mode, go back towards the tomahawk, and you should now see a blue tomahawk there instead. Pick it up, and this will act as a new weapon.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

It will now do a lot more damage to your enemies, and if held for 5 seconds it can charge up 3 times.

How to Build the Zombie Shield (New Improved Shield)
Building the new shield is essentially a whole lot easier, because now Treyarch has made the entire process more easy by allowing you to collect all items, then building all at once. For the shield, there are now 3 main parts, similar to Tranzit.

The first part will always be located in the docks. No matter where you spawn, the first part is located at the docks. Most usually it is located near the trap on the docks. Pick that up by pressing "X".
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The second part is located in one of the rooms at the bottom of the spiral stairs, on one of the sacrificing bench areas. It is not always here, but in this general area it will be spawned every time.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The last part is on the spiral stairs but more specifically on the spiral stairs. Usually located in corners as you go down the stairs; this is an example of where it could be.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Then, once found, make your way over to the work bench and construct your shield. This will take around 5 seconds to fully build on the work table.

How to Activate the Easter Egg Song
The new easter egg song that is now introduced to MoTD, is a Johnny Cash song called "Rusty Cage". This song was played in the exclusive MoTD trailer, which was a hint from Treyarch. As usual, the method to get the actual song to play is by activating little things around the map. For this map, it is bottles.

The first bottle is located just outside the spawn room, in the Olympia area, on a bookshelf there is a black bottle. Hold the toggable button on it (X for Xbox, Square for PS3, F for PC)
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The second one is located on the dock, make your way to the dock through the usual way, turn left, and go far left. You will then see that there is a bottle on the floor.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The third and final one is located in the bathrooms on the top floor. You can find it here;
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

After this, the song will then play.

How to Activate the Second Easter Egg Song
In Mob of the Dead, there are also 2 Easter Egg songs that can be activated. They are extremely easy to get as well. Basically, what you're going to need to do is head to the spiral stairs where the number pad is located. At the top of the stairs, down yourself with the Afterlife Activator at the top, near the other set of stairs. Head all the way down to the actual number pad, and enter the following code into the pad:

9-3-5

(Reference to Group 935, bit of an Easter Egg for anyone who pays attention to the storyline)

Then, the second song "Where are we Going" will begin to play.

How to Easily Kill Brutus
Brutus, or the Warden(s) in MoTD is the new boss Zombie. He is very difficult to face alone, but if used the correct strategy, you will be able to kill him very easily. The most easiest way would be using the Tomahawk. Using the Tomahawk retrieved by the Hellhound will allow you to kill him very easily, or multiple amounts of him easily. This is by far the easiest way to kill him.

How to Get the Hell's Retriever (Tomahawk)
Getting this the first time may be quite difficult, but once you get the hang of it, getting the Tomahawk will become easier. So basically what you have to do is find each of the Hellhound's spawning locations. This maybe in various places, but the most common is the spawn area at the first opened door. You have to basically sacrifice 3-10 Zombies to each Hellhound at 3 different locations. Once this is done, you are rewarded with it. Go back to the area with the sign with 3 hellhounds, and get your reward.

How to Scare Your Friends (Pop out Screamer Easter Egg)
Of course with the whole "Horror" aspect in Mob of the Dead, it couldn't be complete without a nice little pop out screamer now would it. Treyarch has added a nice little screamer into MoTD, probably in a very noticable spot. To get this screamer to activate, get either you or your friends on the roof with a sniper. Go to the farthest balcony on the roof, past the plane to where you can see the fireworks in the town. Aim your sniper rifle directly at the fireworks in the distance; wait about 4 seconds Zoomed in on the scope, and the screamer will activate. Might wanna close your ears

Standard Information
Imagine this; you are one of four criminals who have been locked inside of Alcatraz penitentiary. You are planning an escape from Alcatraz. When the moment is right, you storm through cellblock and take out a guard. You pick up pace and move down the cellblock only to realise that the guard that you incapacitated is standing up. On closer inspection he is 'dead'. Moments later your entire operation is overthrown with hordes of the undead. The next time you see Alcatraz, you are not yourself, infact you are a ghost. In this time, Alcatraz has changed greatly. You return to your bodies and rejuvenate yourself into a working human.
For the first time in Zombies history there is not only an easter egg objective, but a story driven objective. Your objective is to collect many pieces of an aircraft. The aircraft is adjoined by 'Oxygen tanks' and upon completion you are able to leave Alcatraz Island.
When you enter the scripted scene for the 'Aircraft' you realise that you are incapable of flying anywhere other than the Golden Gate bridge. Upon arrival on the Golden Gate Bridge, you realise that you should never have left Alcatraz. The bridge is still under construction and it is essentially a 'No Mans Land'. The Golden Gate bridge has two unique facets. The first is that the Golden Gate bridge is the location of the 'Pack a Punch' machine. The other unique fact is that it's the main spawn for 'The Warden'.
When you realise that the Golden Gate bridge is not what it first seems, you will need to make a decision, stay and fend off the hordes of the undead and die, or sacrifice yourself with one of the four electric chairs on the bridge.

Ray Liotta - Billy Handsome = The psychopath, the one entrusted by the mobs as their hitman, hired to kill anyone or anything associated with disobeying the mob.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Billy Handsome seems to be the main character of the group. From the exclusive MoTD trailer, we were able to gather that he's an important character. We get the sense that he is quite intelligent as well. Billy is the one who gets his hands dirty, not the master mind, but the guinea pig, the one who commits all of the crimes for the bosses. In the exclusive trailer he mentions this as well. Billy is a ruthless killer, "as long as it made the headlines..." he says. As you can see, Billy is quite an extravagent man to say the least.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Calogero Lorenzo "Chazz" Palminteri - Sal DeLuca = The Mob Boss
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Sal is the boss, the main mobster, the one who issues the charges, the fundamental core piece of the entire mob. He works with the cops, gets in undercover, and does the behind the scenes work. "He built an entire empire..." Sal is, from what I can tell, an allegory to Al Capone, one of the most famous mob bosses who was sent to Alcatraz just like Sal. Sal was a very sneakish, and devilish guy, but never got his hands dirty. He would always hire others to do his work for him, and never do the dirty work; just call them.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Joe Pantoliano - Arthur Arlington = The Weasel
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

One of the money handlers; those who commit the frauds, the forging, the stealing; this was Al's job. He would do all of this for the mobs, and perform tasks that require "Weaselish" characteristics to pull off. Al is also very known for being a con artist; so does this mean he may have some part of the storyline and being tricked into doing something? (Remember how Richtofen was influenced into killing Maxis?) Similar aspects.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Michael Madsen - Finn O'Leary = Gets his hands dirty, self made, a very dark past
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The cheater. One of the most experienced and advanced people known to cheat his way out of almost anything; escaping from jail multiple times, tricking and forging certain things, he was the best cheater of the best. It also talks about Finn's wife, who was good looking, but sold him out to the police in exchange for money. We'll probably be hearing him talk about that incident variously.

Location
Alcatraz Island is located in the San Francisco bay. The area is only about a mile away from the coastline, but is isolated in its area. Although it is somewhat isolated, Treyarch likes to include little types of details into their maps to understand where the map is in general location. For example, in Black ops 1, in Kino Der Toten, they put the map in Berlin, Germany. To emphasize the location they placed, what they did was included in the far distance an image of the construction of the Fernsehturm TV tower. This is now a major tourist attraction in Berlin today, but it was added to the map in the middle of construction to understand that the map took place in the 60s, when the map was being created. Fernsehturm for example was created in the years 1965-69. This meant the map took place around the year of 1967 or approximately.

What this ultimately would help a lot of people understand is when the map took place; this helped us to decrypt more of the storyline, and better understand what was happening. It was a really neat way of Treyarch hinting at the time zone, and helped us uncover more of the story, and about the time travel; now, what Treyarch is doing in Mob of the Dead is quite similar, in fact, I can guarantee it is about the same strategy they are using with the Kino Der Toten map, which they are using for this one.

In the trailer, we are given a quick glance of this background;
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

What we can see here is the Golden Gate Bridge. But as you can see, it is in development. See what I'm getting at here? They're doing exactly what they did with Kino Der Toten, and incorporating that hinting in their once again. They're adding the development of the Golden Gate bridge into the map to show us that the map is taking place during a certain time period. But when? A quick google search will get you that answer.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

As you can see, the map will take place in San Francisco, since the Golden Gate bridge is located there, at the time period of around 1935 or so. No exact date, but this is the closest date I could come up with. Hope this helps you understand the map more.

Time Period

Mob of the Dead, or Alcatraz, will be taking place during the Prohibition era. The game will be taking place on Alcatraz island as well, taking you through the entire island, exploring the secrets from within the map, uncovering a darker force at your presence. The map takes place during the Prohibition Era. This was one of the most controversial times in U.S. History.

The Prohibition era lasted from 1920 through 1933, and was an attempt to legislate morality. It took a Constitutional amendment to enact it, and another one to repeal it. The attempt to decrease the "evils" of alcohol actually created more - and new - types of crime.

Temperance movements had swept through portions of the United States throughout the 19th century, but it was World War I that provided the first opportunity for the anti-alcohol movement to enact a national ban on alcohol. Anti-alcohol sentiment in Congress led to legislation known as the Lever Food and Fuel Control Act of 1917, which regulated food, fuel, and other commodities that might be needed for the war effort. It was argued that the grains needed to distill alcohol were needed as food and were in short supply because of the needs of the war. This effectively shut down the country's breweries and distilleries temporarily.

This was a time in the U.S. where mobsters and criminals would smuggle in Alcohol from different parts of the country to distribute to people willing to buy it; sort of like today's drug industry, except with Alcohol. This caused a large amount of Mobsters; once caught, to be thrown into prisons. But since at the time it was such a serious matter, major alcohol smugglers and mobsters were sent to Alcatraz, an uptight prison, one of the most secure in the world; no one has ever escaped. Whether you hear stories, no one has ever escaped.

Many famous mobsters were sent to this prison, including Al Capone. The Mob of the Dead map takes place during the Prohibition Era (1920s to 1930s), playing as Mobsters, who have obviously been thrown into these prisons because of their actions during the time period.

The map takes place on the famous Alcatraz Island. The backstory of Alcatraz is very haunting and mysterious. Many unexplained events have occurred on the island, and many people have wondered what truly goes on there. Not much is known, and much is secret, to mostly everyone; except the people there. This is the perfect place for a Zombie map, a place with mystery, and a haunting backstory.

Achievements

No One Escapes Alive
In Mob Of the Dead, Execute the escape Plan

Basically means to build the Pack-a-Punch. This achievement can be found in the tutorials section above, as well as in this video guide:

Feed The Beast
In Mob Of the Dead, Obtain Hell's Retriever.

Be sure to see the guide that is located above in the tutorials section as well for the achievement.

Making The Rounds
In Mob Of the Dead, complete the cycle 3 times.

To get this achievement, you basically must make it to the Golden Gate Bridge, use the electric chairs, build the plane with fuel tanks again, and then take it back 3 times in one game. The plane spawns back every round, so this will take a total of 3 rounds to complete. This may seem tricky, but once you're used to it, it gets easier.

Acid Drip
In Mob Of the Dead, convert a weapon using a kit

For this achievement, you're basically going to need to build the AcidGat upgrade by finding 3 main parts around the map. The parts will then be combined to form the AcidDrip upgrade, which can be used on the BlunderGat to be upgraded to the Acid Gat. In order to do this, you'll need to find 3 parts all in various places. The first part is the acid component; it is usually always found at the beginning entrance of the infirmary:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The second part needed usually always spawn near the spawn area after the first door. It is mainly located always in this corner shown here next to the power switch, and can be acquired.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The last part is usually located in the wardens office, usually in the first corner you see at the beginning.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Then, find a work bench, and build it and upgrade the Blunder Gat to get the Acid gat for this achievment.

Full Lockdown
In Mob Of the Dead, Brutus completes his patrol

This is a tricky achievement, but can be very simple if you have multiple players. For this achievment, you'll need Brutus to spawn in, and lock basically EVERYTHING in the map. Yes, painful I know, but it will get you the achievment. I suggest getting this towards the end of your playing time so you don't have to buy all of them again, but literally everything must be locked: This means the plane, workbenches, perks, boxes, etc. Good luck.

A Burst Of Flavor
In Mob Of the Dead, Kill 10 Zombies at once with a new beverage.

This is also a tricky achievement. You're going to need to basically buy Electric Cherry and kill 10 zombies at one time using the perk. This is recommeneded to do on easy, so put it on easy and on a LOW ROUND get a train going. Make sure you have walkers, and they are weak; once all are together, reload your weapon, and create the shock around you. If in the correct radius, all zombies will be killed.

Paranormal Progress
In Mob Of the Dead, open a door without spending points.

To get this simply go into Afterlife mode near the first spawn afterlife activator, and follow the arrows to the power switch. Shock it, and you'll get the achievement;

GG Bridge
In Mob Of the Dead, survive an enitre round on the bridge on round 15 or higher.

For this achievment, you're going to need to get to the bridge on Round 15, and stay there, killing all zombies for an entire round. It sounds a lot easier then it looks. I suggest getting very good weapons when going for this achievment, and making sure you have lots of support to cover you. Here is a guide to help you.

Trapped in Time
In Mob Of the Dead, use and upgrade all traps before round 10.

For this, you're going to need to activate all traps in Afterlife mode, and use them all before round 10.
Here is a very simple and easy guide for this:

Pop Goes the weasle
In Mob Of the Dead, break the cycle.

See first tutorial above.

Purgatory/Afterlife Mode
With Mob of the Dead, Treyarch and the Zombie team is introducing something COMPLETELY new and different to the Zombies scenario: Purgatory Mode. This is for the players that die in the beginning of the round, and have to wait the entire round to spawn back in; not anymore. With Purgatory mode, all of this is left behind, and you can now 'play' once you are dead, and bleed out. I will quote the exact text underneath this, but simply, if you go down, bleed to death, you are transferred into the world of Purgatory. In the world of Purgatory there are no Zombies, points, guns, it is it's own world. You remain in Purgatory until the new round starts, but if everyone is sent to Purgatory at the same time, the game ends. Here in Purgatory, there are voices, secrets, and EE's galore, but what is most interesting is that there are now buildables located inside Purgatory. If you retrieve them fast enough, you can then bring them back to the real world when you respawn back in at the beginning of the next round and build them in the real living world.

Statement from Treyarch Employee, Confirmed by Benn from PTG:
The first thing I want to talk about is this purgatory mode. Basically, once your character is downed and is not revived and bleeds out he access this new area called purgatory. Purgatory is actually like its own separate map (its absolutely massive) with an entirely different objective. There are no zombies in purgatory and its like this weird inter-dimensional trance space, and it may or may not have been influenced by LSD. The idea is that there's no time or space in this place. It's like this weird Pandora's box kind of place with weird ass things everywhere. It's a huge part of the side quest. And the whilst you are walking through here you are meant to get scared. You have weird voices telling you things and out of place objects everywhere. While in purgatory there are no weapons, no zombies, and no points. It's really more of a discovery kind of place. There are also buildable items located in purgatory that you can grab. Once the new round starts, though, you are pulled out of purgatory and put back into the normal map, along with any items you find there. There's a lot in purgatory and even though this is a "leak" some of its is quite awesome and I really don't want to ruin it for you guys (trust me once you play it you'll agree with me).

This explanation was somewhat correct, however the 6 minute gameplay has proved some of it wrong. Purgatory mode can now be accessed at any given moment in the game, however, you get certain amount of visits per game. Currently, unconfirmed, but you will be able to acquire them somehow in game. Purgatory mode gives you a new power to access parts of the map you cannot usually get to, and also gives you clues on how to continue the Easter Egg. As we are shown in the gameplay preview.

Purgatory mode will not leave you imminent from Zombies however. Players in Purgatory mode will have an icon above their head. This will give other teammates a heads up when to look after the rest of the Zombies. This is an example of when a player is in purgatory mode;

The New "Wunder"-Weapon (Blunder/Acid)
The now confirmed "Wunder Weapon", or the weapon that uses a special source, is now called the "BlunderGat". This gun has 2 main usages; it can act as a death wielding shotgun, being an amazing source to take down multiple zombies at one given time, and killing them rapidly; or upgraded, it can become the "AcidGat". What this now does is acts as if an acid monkey bomb. The upgraded version now does 2 main functions.

1.) It can act as if a monkey bomb
2.) It can act as an acid disintegrating-shooting weapon of sorts if that makes any sense; I'll show some gameplay to help you understand.

Picture ante-upgrade:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Picture post-upgrade:

Both versions can act very well, but overall, the best way to use this is most likely going to be upgraded, as it has 2 main functions in one gun. The original version is also very good however.

Perks Confirmed
Electric Cherry - The function of this perk is to behave like a form of protection. What this does is basically allows you to reload, and be in safe cover when you reload. Once doing so, if any zombies come within range of you, they will be shocked, and stunned. This way you have time to reload, and you will have time to reload safely while cover is around you, this is very a new and innovative perk.

This is the new view when you begin to reload and zombies attack, this shield is dispersed:

PhD (Unconfirmed, rumored to be some form of it)

Double Tap II

Jugger-Nog

Speed Cola

The Warden
The warden is a somewhat revamped, and innovated version of a previous character we've seen before, and yes, unfortunately; George Romero. The Warden is the same basic role; a character that roams around the map, can be killed but will spawn back once killed. The Warden will be an important character in the game, because he will get in your way, just as George did. The appearance of the Warden is not yet confirmed, but once the game does come out, I will post a picture of him here.

The Warden will go around the map doing various things;
-Lock the mystery box
-Lock all perk machines at a time
-Begin to chase you, if he does and hits you, you will down with 1 hit, 2 with Juggernog
-Destroys all glass in an area

The Warden also spawns on the other side of the map, or the Golden Gate Bridge. Here is the main spawner; but also, here lies the packapunch. As you can see, acquiring it will be difficult seeing the Warden Spawns there.

Methods of Transportation

Traps
Along with the things shown in this trailer, we can also spot that there will be traps in the map, and it seems that these will be a new type of implementation. At certain frames we can see pieces of parts, and we can also see some trap parts. For example, at around 2:59 of the trailer, paused, you can see various things. You can see the original trap switch from WaW on the wall.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You can also see some spikes on top of the room. Does this mean we can trigger them to fall and kill Zombies?
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Also, to the right, there is what seems to be 2 car doors, and a new type of part. This is not confirmed however, we cannot see a very clear view, this is just what it appears to be.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Hooks also hang from the ceiling, but whether they are interactable is unknown as of now.

From the 6 minute gameplay, we were able to see that as well with the new traps there are also going to be some new methods of using them as well. For example, we were shown the Fan Trap.

The Fan Trap spins blades in a circular motion extremely fast, through a specific doorway, and from this, any zombies that walk through will be destroyed by the trap. This requires 1000 points, and will last for approximately 30 seconds or so.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The next trap we were introduced into was the Acid Trap. This trap will also cost 1000 points. But the effect on Zombies will be different. What the Acid Trap does is disperses a thickening acid gas, which disintegrates all zombies within range. You can see it here;

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Gruesome Atmosphere
Just from the trailer, we can gather quite a lot about the gruesome and gory aspects about the map. Lots of horror and terror is being added to this map, even coming from one of the directors:
change the vibe... embrace the whole horror feel...

In this map, they're trying to make a horror film essentially; what this means is that various places around the map will feel extremely eery, very dark and very gruesome. As you can see some images already:

Looking at overseeing views of the map, you can see lots of grungy, and gruesome places in the map. This is obvious they are trying to create the scariest and most horrifying Zombie experience ever; just what the community is begging for.

Cinematic Implementation

We can also gather that in Mob of the Dead, we will be getting some cinematic implementation in the map. What this means is that there will either be just an intro cut scene, which is more likely than other possibilites, or we will be getting multiple cut scenes. This will most likely only be in Solo mode however, because they've never done cut scenes with multiple people in the game. Maybe after we defeat a boss or something of that sort, a cut scene will play. All we know, is that somewhere there will be cinematic implementation, a more advanced cut scene more likely being at the beginning of the game. For example, in COTD at the beginning of the game. Here is a screenshot of them developing the cutscene.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Also you can see them doing work with stunt actors here
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Could also be part of the cut scene
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Example of beginning cut scene from COTD, most likely what they are going to be doing similar towards.

This is the final Mob of the Dead intro scene, which can be seen when loading up BO2 zombies. Here you can see much is going on, mainly the fact that they are attempting an escape plan.

This gives us a basic backstory of the game. We see that the Mobsters have attempted to escape their cells. Once they do so, we are given a look at how they each attempt to survive and then make their way out. We watch as eventually every mobster is killed and taken down by the Zombies, giving us a clear intro of why they spawn into Afterlife mode. But why is it that they don't become Zombies?

The New HUD System
Along with this new map, Treyarch has implemented a new HUD, just varyinga couple things in the map. As you can see it here, not much has changed, they've just implemented a new font-style, with a bloody scenario added to it. I thought I would mention this, because this shows the extreme change that this new map is going to be generating. This shows that Treyarch is now changing Zombies in their DLC, and is completely innovating little things just to give us a taste. This is the new HUD system, for example;
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Also, the characters' name is also supported on the scoreboard. As you can see here, the name is demonstrated to the left of the point score. This is a nice implementation, because now we can see which character is which without going through an entire hassle.

I also wanted to mention that the Purgatory/Afterlife logo is at the top of the D-Pad. So what this indicates now is that when you are wanting to go to Afterlife/Purgatory, you will be transported there by hitting the Top D-Pad button. This is an easy way to acces it. This makes everything a lot easier; you can gather Purgatory mode options throughout the game.

Reveal Trailer Analysis
You can see this is a video editing software, which means that there will be some type of cut scene;

Theories/Speculations

Red Eyes Explanation
The eye color of the Zombies in Mob of the Dead are red. They are not orange, they are red. What this indicates is that the Zombies are now in their original state, where no figure is controlling them; not Richtofen, not Sam, not Maxis, but their original state. What this indicates is that a stronger and darker force is in control of them. Or, this could mean the map is a prequel, but no actual confirmation on that now. There are multiple possibilities on this, but since red is a more sinister and darker color, the satanic involvement in the storyline may be coming back to play a role in the game. Also they make it very clear that the zombies eyes are red in the gameplay, so this means they are trying to enhance this. What this means for the storyline, we still don't know much about.

Die Rise Continuation
Most of you remember at the end of the Die Rise map, when you die, you can hear a door slamming, and a lock going off..... Understand yet? Alcatraz is one of the most sophisticated jails in all of history. What you heard at the end of Die Rise was the Warden, or one of the new bosses in Alcatraz, shutting and locking the jail cell. What this may mean actually, is that when you spawn into Alcatraz, the scenario is you spawning into the jail, the Zombie outbreak occurring, and you escaping, which would seem very fitting. Here is a picture of the Warden.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

As you can see from his badge, he will be the warden, and he is the one locking and shutting the door at the end of Die Rise. I give complete credit to Benn From PTG, this was completely his finding, and this is completely true. Trust me.

Secret Subliminal Message
Now, this image is only flashed for about a second. This was found bye Mr. JoeTroucious, or from him I found it, but this is an image that lasts 1 frame, and shows an elevator with blood, and a teddy bear. This has extreme importance to SOMETHING in the map, not sure of what yet. Whether this indicates Samantha's back or not, we'll have to see.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Satanic Involvement in Map
As you can see from the trailer, there is obviously much Satanic involvement in the map. Mainly, to go along with the red eyes or so. The red eyes may indicate that there is a darker force involved with controlling the zombies now. Richtofen, Samantha, and Maxis are currently out of the question (Well Maxis maybe because red tower in ToB EE?) Other than that, just from the trailer we are already hinted at much involvement with darker forces. One of the best examples in the beginning, a ritual performing table is found on the beginning of the trailer.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Also, the red eyes
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

And ancient scripture, related to some type of darker force, unsure of what yet.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Also, if you remember from Moon, Samantha says one of the most memorable Zombies quotes of the entire game.
The blackness will swallow your pride! Something far more terrible than you lies here!

Is this dark force that we were reminded of finally going to be shown in this new map? Or at least given more information about?

Who is in Control of the Zombies?
The question being raised as of now, is who is really in control of the Zombie? The speculation has risen, and we are not completely sure of who exactly in control of the Zombies. It can't be Samantha: the eyes are turned to Orange. It can't be Richtofen: the eyes turn blue. Could it be Maxis? This is possible, but it doesn't make sense in the storyline; Maxis just randomly gained control of the Zombies at the end of Die Rise? It may be possible that the Warden of the map is in control of the Zombies. The Warden seems to be extremely strong, in control, and in possession of the island. That is a possibility. It may be a possibility that the controller of everything is just a far more dark power, which Samantha has warned us all of since Moon. Some say it could be the Devil, which has had major speculation in the WaW game series. We'll see when the game comes out.

Easter Egg Continuation
The Easter Egg continuation will be very interesting to see what happens; whether we continue to work for the choice of either Richtofen or Maxis, we will see; but if it is the case that we are working to power a tower in Alcatraz, then maybe this tower, which we were given a very big hint towards in the trailer. When we are looking at an overview of the map in the trailer, you can see they emphasize this certain tower in the map.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

This tower is extremely emphasized, and if we continue the quest with Richtofen and Maxis struggling for the powering of the towers, then I can guarantee this tower will most likely become essential if we are given that task. Otherwise, the easter egg may overall be just to assist this new controller of Zombies, indicated by red eyes. We may be helping out the previous voices as well? (In Call of the Dead we had to follow the voices, the original fab 4) so maybe in Mob of the Dead we have to follow Russ, Sam, Marlton and such in completing the new Easter Egg, if they are following the pattern from COTD.

A Main Buildable
Throughout the trailer we can various buildables. They are everywhere, you just have to look in the right areas; now what we can see at various points is parts that we've seen in previous games, but from leaked information from people inside of the development, we have been hinted that there will be something "bigger" to build. Now I don't know what this means exactly, maybe it could be some type of way to *cough* escape *cough*. There are parts scaterred around, we just have to look in the correct places for them. At the beginning of the trailer, this piece is almost always overlooked. It seems that from the information given to us by PTG, which is correct information they have been correct about Ascenscion, COTD, Shangri la, Die Rise, and now Alcatraz, there may be one bigger buildable. We are hinted at pieces such as the beginning of the trailer;
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

And the middle of it;
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

These are pieces we have seen before, but are they for the same purpose?

The Mysterious Drawings
In the new 6 Minute gameplay trailer, we were given a look at these strange drawings in the new map. This was very interesting, because with each Zombie map, drawings or some type of concept art goes along with it; this one was new, and delivered a lot of new and informative information about the map and its secrets. Here are images of the drawings we were hinted at, all of them.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now, I'm not going to go into too much depth about this entirely, but once the map is released, I can assure you this thread will be updated with these theories entirely.

Escaping the Island
Now along with the Zombies map, for once in Zombies, we actually have a purpose in this game; which is too escape the island, but as we will find out, you cannot escape any zombies map, no matter what you build. The entire item to build in this map, is now a plane. This plane will fly you over to a new area of the map (Rumored to be the Golden Gate Bridge), and from this, we will then be able to use the PaP, and the electric chairs This new ability gives new gameplay and strategy to Zombies, but we will overall just have to wait and see until the release to find out.

Methods of Transporation
Weeks before trailers were released, and the map pack was confirmed, there were many speculations on networks of transporation on this map. It was supposedly leaked that you could get around the map through Ziplines in the map. This was somewhat confirmed true, but in a different way. Methods of transportation are now different, as now you can use Gondolas. Gondolas can be used, as seen in the 6 minute gameplay, for a total of 750 points. What the Gondola basically does is transports you through the map.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Pictures of an actual Gondola:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Not the same premise as the one being displayed in this map, but you get the idea.

As you can see here, the gate closes once bought. Then it transports you to a higher elevation location, which you are then dropped off at.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The Demon "Devil" Dog and Frank Woods
As many of you have seen by now in the trailer, and have seen in the new 6 minute gameplay, there is now a somewhat Demon dog, which accepts Sacrifices. I have mentioned this in one of the previous theories, but since the new gameplays, I thought this should get its own theory section by itself. The new Demon Dog seems to appear at certain places in the map, and eat the Zombies. Once you have sacrificed enough zombies, it gives you a reward, which was rumored to be a New Tomahawk weapon which attracts powerups (Shown in the Gameplay)
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now this is all cool and such, but when I heard this, I immediately thought back to Black Ops 1. Remember Woods' tattoos? He had the 115 tattoo, and also a wolf behind a moon, on fire.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Sound familiar to the new map? Also, notice how there is fire at the bottom, and the new Demon Dog contains fire around its head.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

This is extremely intriguing because not only does Woods have the 115 tattoo (Symbolizing the reference to Element 115), but he also has the Wolf, which is a family of the dog. But there's even more Around the arm of the opposite arm on Frank Woods, and we have another tattoo: "Teufelhunden".

"Devil Dog"

The red lights kinda make sense cause once you complete the Tower Of Babble you see the exact same beams in town in the back. Do you think it has something to do with this?

I think they're finally bringing back World at War satanic involvements back to make the story even darker.

The color red is a symbol of Lucifer, the Devil, or a "dark presence"; if the Zombies had been spawning before 115 was even created, then who is originally in control of the Zombies... If the color of the Zombie's eyes are red before any human gains control...

Yes, sorry I've fixed it, and yes Richtofen is not in control, this is their natural eye color, or their natural eye state. When Sam is in control: Orange. Richtofen: Blue. Unknown (Not Maxis, as we know right now, could be wrong): red.
