So chances are if you own a website you either host it yourself or you use an external web hosting service to ensure 24/7 99% uptime. I for one manage a website and do use an external webhosting service to help me out, I can recommend the service I have now as the support is great and the prices are cheap. But the question is What do you use, and what do you prefer?

If you ever find interest in making one, you should look up tutorials on basic HTML strings, It's pretty easy to pick up if you have the time

I know the basics of HTML, but have never actually sat down and focused on making a website.

That may be something to look into! When you really get started, it can almost be therapeutic, just you and the editing program of your choice. You're so busy focusing on code that you kind of forget about the little troubles
