The Xbox One’s disappointing reveal has shot up sales of the Wii U on Amazon.com. The system was at #390 before the conference, but now has shot up to #40 due to Microsoft’s glorified TV box.

This momentum should carry Nintendo right into the summer as they have big plans for the Wii U at E3 and this fall. The console race has just begun but it’s good to see gamers are picking up a system that’s dedicated to gaming first, and multimedia second.

The headset manufacturer announced today that it will be "among the first to market with Microsoft-licensed gaming headsets for the Xbox One."

Further details with regards to specific models, price points or expected release windows were not given, though we can assume from Turtle Beach's current Xbox 360 lineup that the SKUs will be plentiful and the price disparities vast.

Nvidia launches GeForce GTX 780

Nvidia's second consumer graphics card featuring the GK110 GPU became available at retailers today, marking the first release of the GeForce GTX 700 series of cards. The GTX 780 is nearly identical in appearance to the GTX Titan, which launched in February as part of the GTX 600 series, aside from half as many memory chips on its circuit board and different lettering on the shroud of the cooler.

The MSRP of the GeForce GTX 780 is 649 USD, 549 GBP, or 539 EUR, placing the card between the GTX 680 and the GTX 690 or GTX Titan in Nvidia's lineup in terms of price and performance. Compared to current offerings from competitor AMD, the GTX 780 falls between the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition and the dual-GPU HD 7990.

While the GTX 780 can be had for hundreds of dollars less than the Titan, the performance of the cut-down GK110 card is comparable to that of the higher-end product. The Titan will remain as a premium product with twice as the video memory, greater memory bandwidth, more shading units, and one more SMX unit while the GTX 780 will appeal to those who seek more value for their money. As a result, those who purchased the Titan may not be as enthused by this release as owners of previous-generation cards looking for a significant upgrade.

In related news, the death of announcements featuring the phrase "next-generation platforms" is blissfully upon us.

At the Xbox One event, Activision revealed it's continuing its exclusivity agreement with Microsoft on Call of Duty DLC. So, the one missing link regards Ghosts remains the Wii U, which Activision is staying quiet about.

EA has announced Need for Speed Rivals for current and next-gen consoles.

Set for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 19, 2013 and Xbox One and PS4 later this year, the game promises to capture "the adrenaline and intensity of the street's ultimate rivalry between cops and racers, in a stunning open road environment".

Players take on the role of a racer or a cop, with each side of the law offering its own set of challenges, risks and rewards. The game will also feature Ferrari for the first time in seven years

"The more cops players evade, the more Speedpoints they collect, enabling them to unlock new cars and items. Keep raising the stakes race after race, earning more and more Speedpoints along the way and becoming a more valuable target to the cops - but risk losing it all if busted.

"As a cop, players work together as part of a team in pursuit of racers, earning prominence and rising in the ranks of the Police Force with every bust. Achieving higher ranks unlocks new police only cars and more powerful pursuit tech."

Features

AllDrive - An innovative new feature that allows gamers to seamlessly transition from playing alone, to playing with friends, destroying the line between single player and multiplayer. Players will have to keep one eye on their rearview mirror as friends will be able to enter and exit races on-the-fly, creating a world where no two events will ever be the same
Next-Gen Racing - Redview County is brought to life with stunning, next-generation detail
Need for Speed Network Powered by Autolog - Gamers can compare stats and challenge their friends anytime, anywhere and then easily share their accomplishments with both friends and rivals.

Personalization - Drivers customize their ride with fresh paintjobs, custom license plates, liveries decals and rims, as well as performance upgrades.

Xbox One will not suport current-gen gaming headsets

According to an IGN source, the new data port is indicative of a new Microsoft strategy to take control of the accessory market.
The new port means that current headsets by leading accessory manufacturers, including Turtle Beach, will not work with Xbox One.

According to the source, the propriety data port means Microsoft can control the production of third party peripherals with licensing and authentication standards that manufacturers will be required to meet.

When questioned on the subject, a Microsoft spokesperson said the company will share fresh details on how third party peripherals will work in the future.

"We are working with 3rd party headset manufacturers to create new headsets that will take full advantage of the Xbox One technology," the rep said.

Xbox One will come bundled with a new iteration of its Kinect technology. The hardware features voice technology which will allow chat both in-game and via Skype.

Microsoft exec promises 'huge' Xbox 360 unveil at E3

Microsoft has a 'huge' announcement for the Xbox 360 at this year's E3, despite this week's unveiling of the Xbox One.

Microsoft Game Studios executive Phil Spencer has pledged that the Xbox 360 still has plenty of life following the reveal of the company's next-gen console.
He told Gamespot that Microsoft will continue to support the platform for "years to come".

"I think the [Xbox 360] is going to be very vibrant for many years. In fact, we have a huge, I think it's huge, [Xbox 360] announcement for E3 that I keep wanting to talk about, but I can't." Spencer said.

"I think it will surprise people. I loved what we did last year with Minecraft; bring Minecraft to the box; six million units later it's kind of a beast. I think there's a lot of life in the [Xbox 360] for years to come."

Spencer's comments follow the news that Microsoft plans to release 15 exclusive games in the first year of Xbox One, eight of which will be brand new franchises.

Several third-party publishers will release cross-generation titles for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, including Activision's Call of Duty: Ghosts and EA's Battlefield 4.

PS4 currently beats Xbox One in terms of raw power, says Avalanche

PS4's currently more powerful than Xbox One on paper, according to Linus Blomberg, chief technical officer at Just Cause maker Avalanche Studios.

Asked how the two consoles compare, he told Edge: "It's difficult to say, as it's still early days when it comes to drivers. With each new driver release, performance increases dramatically in some areas.
"The PlayStation 4 environment is definitely more mature currently, so Microsoft has some catching up to do. But I'm not too concerned about that as they traditionally have been very good in that area.

"The specs on paper would favour the PS4 over the Xbox One in terms of raw power," Blomberg added, "but there are many other factors involved so we'll just have to wait and see a bit longer before making that judgment."

Avalanche founder and chief creative officer Christofer Sundberg said the studio received early access to Xbox One and that he was impressed with Microsoft's console.

"It's a fantastic piece of hardware offering a huge range of possibilities for developers to connect with players in ways that have been close to impossible to date," he said.

"Next generation to me has always meant more than nice graphics. I don't really see any big negatives at this point. For me, the success of the new consoles will be determined by how much freedom developers will have to make our gaming experiences customized for our fans."

Microsoft took the wraps off its new console at an Xbox One reveal event on Tuesday, when it confirmed that the system will launch around the world "later this year".

Sony revealed PS4 in February, when it confirmed a PS4 release date of "holiday 2013" in at least one of Japan, Europe and the US. The company didn't show off the console's form factor, but it did release a list of PS4 specs.
