Battlefield 1 releases October 21st - Watch the world premiere trailer

4.7
Battlefield 1 has been officially announced.

The video shows all in-engine footage of a game where warfare is more personal and physical. It features close quarters combat in trench warfare, on the ground units coming at you on horseback, biplane air battles, all covering the history of the war and how it was the genesis of modern warfare.

“With Battlefield 1 we set out to create some of the largest create, most dynamic battles in FPS history while continuing to tap into what fans love most about the franchise,” said DICE. “One of the things that makes World War I such an amazing era is just how advanced it really was.

“Almost everything that you know about the conflicts of the next century, from the massive battles across land, air and sea, to the powerful and efficient weaponry, is there.”

Since it was a global war, players will be taken around the world to places such as the Western Front as well as the deserts of Arabia. Players will be taken to France, the Italian Alps and be able to visit various cities and villages.

These areas are playable through multiplayer and the campaign. The team is also turning the destruction “up a few notches too.”

Vehicles are some of the largest ever built in-game, and will be interesting to play in 64-player battles, according to DICE.

Immersion has been taken into consideration, and while its fun to play in single-player as a “lone wolf,” DICE said playing in a multiplayer persistent squad is “where it’s at.”

Weapons can be customized and there will be a large variety. Rifles, flamethrowers, machine guns, a mace, and other melee weapons such as shovels will be usable. Some of the melee weapons will be heavy or light.

Gas masks will be made use of, giving players the option of running through deadly gas or finding a way to go around it.

After a couple mishaps earlier today, otherwise known as leaks, DICE revealed its new World War I shooter during a livestream this afternoon.

Those who attend the EA Play event during E3 2016 next month can get their hands on the shooter.

Those who pre-order the Early Enlister Deluxe Edition ($79.99) will be able to play Battlefield 1 October 18

Those who pre-order will receive the Hellfighter Pack. It comes with themed items inspired by the 369th Harlem Hellfighter Infantry Regiment.

You can play it first on Xbox One through EA Access.

-Deano Battlefield actually listening to fans saying "we don't want yet another futuristic shooter, take us back to the roots."
I wouldn't be surprised if CoD sell more units because of the remastered call of duty 4 but I think BF have a much better game this year.

Majority of players will no doubt be playing the remastered MW over Infinite Warfare. I know I will be anyway...

With the hype around the Modern Warfare remastered and then for dice to announce this. 2016 should be a good year for games, although it's towards the end of the year the two are released. Can't wait until October for Battlefield 1.

Looks pretty, but I don't have any interest outside of that. I was done with WW2 for the most part after Cod 4. I can't imagine a setting even before then for this type of game. While I wasn't the biggest fan of Battlefield for the longest time, I was still waiting on a Battlefield 5 (more modern.) Unless a friend wants me to get it at some point, it's going to have to be a pass for me.
