Kanye West Speaks Out Against Games With In-App Purchases

4.5
Rap artist, musician, and all-around swell guy Kanye West voiced his dismay at game companies that put in-app purchases in games intended for children in a series of tweets.

Kanye's tweets echoed what many parents feel when they allow their young children to play games on their iPads or other tablet devices. Most freemium, and even some premium games contain pop-ups and notices encouraging their players to spend money on in-app purchases. It's particularly shady when the games in question are intended to be played by children under the age of 5, billing parents who forget to lock purchases on their device with exorbitant fees.

Here's what he said:

I have to agree that In App purchases are a very sneaky way of the companies making money because kids are able to just buy things if the card is linked with the Apple ID

This was quite funny because Kim has a game with in app purchases lol, and if he can't figure out how to turn iAP off then he is to blame.

Dementor what he is sayiing is kind of true but....

If a game is free how is the creators going to make a profit if there was no in app purchases?

In-app purchases you do not need to actually buy them, its just an option for you if you want a wee boost

They can make money off ad revenue ad they'd probably make more money off ads if there was no iaps

That is not true at all. Ads are PayPerClick. They only get money if you click on it. The revenue is pennies on the dollar. In app purchases are straight profit in most cases.
Personally I would rather an app be a one off fee.

No, revenue is based on ad impressions, whether or not somebody just sees the ad and has time to think about it for a second.

This guy can have some bad views but I agree with him on this one. I don't think children should be bombarded by advertising at such a young age.

I totally agree, IAP Just ruin most games

This is probably the 1st thing I've ever agreed with him on... It's not like they make money off it anyway. People could just jailbreak their phones and get (most) in-app purchases for free anyway.

apps need to generate revenue, but if your TOO STUPID to sing out of the app store before handing it over to a 2yr old, then you deserve it!

even with ads only, she is still going to tap on an animation!
