Grand Theft Auto series has shipped over 220 million units

The Grand Theft Auto series has sold-in over 220 million units, according to a form 8-K Take-Two filed with the SEC this week.

In the same Shareholder Outreach document which noted the Red Dead Redemption figures, the firm noted the figures, adding at 54 million was attributed to GTA 5.

Mind you, sold-in is the same as sell-in, which refers to units “shipped” to retail. If the figure pertained to units sold to customers, it would be listed as “sell-through” or “sold-through.” Lovely investor jargon.

In February, Take-Two announced GTA 5 had shipped over 52 million units, so the shipped numbers jumped 2 million over the last three months.

Within three days of release in 2013, GTA 5 had surpassed $1 billion in worldwide retail sales.

I liked it in the early days before a ton of updates. They ruined it with a few updates (GTA: Online)

That's years down the road but you're right they are probably already working on the next GTA but you won't here anything about it for a long time because if they are I'm sure its still on the drawing board.


I can't imagine how GTA VI would be like . :) , hopefully the open world is 2x as big or bigger than gta 5's.

Yes, to many chumps online.


Yeah the only thing to do online is to kill people and even that was boring , the game had a lot of potential but their is so many small details that could've made the game more awesome :), but them free dlc packs are amazing , unlike call of duty , u already have to buy 60$ for the game itself , then like 60-100 in dlc content , like are u guys not making enough money !!!


then they add in camos, and gear for your character and extra class slots.
