Phil Spencer Says Catching PS4 Sales Isn’t His Priority

4.7
Since the Xbox One and the PS4 launched, Sony has held the upper hand when it comes to sales of units in a very big way. This year, the Xbox One has made some serious inroads when it comes to catching Sony and the Playstation 4 and making this a real contest. The company has come up with ideas like backwards compatibility that Sony hasn’t even offered yet. It was also the first to launch a console with a larger hard drive in order to make it easier for players with large downloadable games libraries.

Despite all of this Phil Spencer says his primary goal isn’t to “catch” Sony. Instead the Xbox One chief’s primary mission is just to make sure his console has a strong standing and is well received. He believes the rest will take care of itself. Talking to the Eurogamer, he laid out how he sees where his product stands now. “All I can do is focus on Xbox, and I love that. I love our fans and the partners we have. We’re growing Xbox year on year, we’re bigger than we were this time in the 360 generation, so generation over generation we’re in a better spot, year over year we’re in a better spot.”

Spencer went onto claim that he really doesn’t even think about how many units Sony has sold. While that might seem an awful lot like someone would say no matter who they were and where they were in the market share, it’s still a healthy approach. You don’t want execs always being reactive with their product to what their competitors are doing. Instead, they should be looking to innovate on their own. Phil Spencer seems to share that belief publicly.

PC Mustard Rice.
It's said they have to fight for sales by grubbing features from people playing tons. They make you spend $400-500 then months later when you are fed up with having no storage release larger HDD's and or a whole new model with more space. It's sad that people still buy into this because the technology has been here for years. There are drives of 8TB and even solid state and this year PCIE solid state is getting better. On top of that the "next gen" of gaming has been hardly that when it cannot even do 1080p, sometimes they use dynamic 1080p but its really 900p. The XBOX360 and PS3 were honestly better than these things. It has become all about the money instead of providing a good service.

Sales don't really matter; PS4 is in no way better than Xb1 and vice versa. Lol.
