Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Won’t Cover Full 360 Games Library

4.6
Revealing backwards compatibility on Xbox One for Xbox 360 games was an absurdly juicy feature for Microsoft to just casually throw out at E3 this year. Speaking to Official Xbox Magazine, Microsoft's corporate vice president Kudo Tsunoda explains the next steps and why the full back catalogue won't be appearing just yet.

"So, we’ll start with 100 titles this autumn, and we’ll be adding titles as time goes by," he says. "At some point we’re going to need to get – obviously - the permission of the owners of the content, the publishers and the developers. So 100% is always a hard thing to achieve in anything."

Black Ops 2 is currently the most wanted Xbox One game via backwards compatibility and Microsoft isn't revealing which ones it's going after but is promising bigger and better. "There’s a possibility for some outliers, but we’re really going to work on getting the biggest catalogue of games on any platform onto Xbox One via not only our exclusive blockbuster titles that we’re delivering this fall, [but also] our indie games plus backward compatibility. Again, that’s just enormous value for gamers."

anonily hopefully all of the cod's would work on backwards compatability

Lol that's never going to happen.

It will, once Black Ops 2 is gree lighted Black Ops 1, WAW and COd3 well be right behind it. Same goes for IW titles.

Whom That sucks, why dont they just add all of them or cant they?

They can't. It's up to the developers of the games if they want their game to be backwards compatible or not.

Cartier I bet none of the COD's will be apart of this becuase Activision wants to make as much money as possible selling new COD's. They probably believe backewards compatibility with their previous games will interfere with that.

Thank you. Someone who believes the same thing I do. No matter how many "votes" any CoD gets I seriously doubt they would allow it. Activision wants to keep milking kids parents for all they have each year. Allowing previous CoDs to be backwards compatible would only interfere with their new CoD's sales.

I agree with you both. I'm pretty sure even if they are at the top and I wanted cod 4 but in actuality there is no way activision will let this slide, or infinity ward

With all of the hype that the older cods have received recently, their is a higher chance of Activision releasing all old cods on one disc and charging $60 for it.

More like $80 without most of the stuff just so they could sell them as pre-order incentives or dlc.

I doubt it as most of the people who would play it likely own the discs already and people who don't will more than likely buy a preowned copy which makes them more money. If anything it might help get more people into the series if they can play the older ones on the new consoles.

I'm kinda mixed on this topic now..

Both console devs seem to be focused on 'remakes' instead of making new content..
I mean. Sure the remakes are nice, but come on. We want new games, not rehash.
If you want to enjoy new games, that's fine. Do it, but don't petition to have remakes made. That is just stupid. You tell game companies that their lack of content is fine when you promote remakes. All the companies that games are worth it, might not even make it to this list. Especially online games. Why pay for the servers for this old game, when you could use it for a new game?

Please make more gaming content. My PS4/Xbox One was not bought to be a 400$ netflix machine..
